How We Met

Hunter and I attended Rose State College at the same time for the 23-24 school year. He was starting his sophomore year when I was moving in for the start of my freshman year. I was playing volleyball at Rose, while he was playing soccer. The first time I saw Hunter was during our move-in day on campus, as volleyball and soccer players move in on the same day. The first time that we formally met was at the State Fair in Oklahoma. I had gone with my roommates & he had gone with his. We ran into them halfway through the night, and he ended up leaving his roommates and hanging out with us the rest of the night. Soon after he started walking around with us, we decided we were ready to leave. While we were heading out, my friends and I spotted the area for karaoke. Without hesitation, we ran over, and starting dancing and singing our hearts out. We looked crazy to most, but we never really seemed to care much. Hunter stood, patiently, waiting for us to get our energy out, until we finally decided to leave. That night, he found me on social media and started attempting to chat with me. Initially, I didn't really give him much to work with, as I totally didn't want anything to do with boys in that way. Although we clicked immediately, I was convinced that being in a relationship during college was the last thing that I was looking for... and it really was. After that night, we started hanging out more and more often, creating the craziest memories, and then it was happily ever after... Except it actually wasn't that simple. We started to become best friends instead. We would constantly go on late night food runs, play random games with our roommates, bake red velvet cakes (one too many times), and even jumped off of a bridge into a river on a random weekday. Young and dumb, I know. We were truly inseparable. We spent time together every single day, and found someway to incorporate each other in all areas of our lives. After our bridge escapade, Hunter decided he wanted to pursue me, even with all of the craziness that I held. For a few months, I still was convinced that I didn't want anything to do with boys, no matter who it was, so I wasn't budging... but he didn't give up. Thank. The. Lord. Once I finally stopped being stubborn, I gave in and gave it a chance. We then, finally, were able to start our happily ever after. :)
