Our Love Story

Our story began in high school when we were just 15 and 16 years old. Our relationship started with lots of butterflies and soft smiles, the kind that made every glance feel exciting and new. Each small interaction felt meaningful, and with every shared smile and shy hello, we began to discover the spark that would grow into something truly special. We fell in love slowly while in high school, enjoying our junior year and learning more about each other with each passing day. By our senior year, we were able to experience school fully in person, enjoying senior year without the limitations of COVID. We embraced every moment that senior year offered: homecoming, senior football games, prom, baseball and softball seasons, and ultimately graduation. We were inseparable, living just a mile from each other, savoring every moment together while knowing that soon we would be separated across the state. After graduation, our paths took us to different places: Faith headed to James Madison University, and Darren went to play baseball at Richard Bland College and later at William & Mary. It was our first experience navigating long-distance, and it brought many challenges. Through every challenge and every joyful moment, our bond deepened, and we discovered how truly strong and committed we are to each other. By sophomore year of college, we entered stronger and more confident in our ability to love each other no matter the distance. Our shared growth in faith became a guiding force in our lives, helping us navigate challenges with patience, grace, and trust in God. This period strengthened our bond and laid the foundation for a deeper, more intentional partnership as we looked forward to the future together. During junior year, Darren transferred to William & Mary to continue playing baseball, and Faith became more involved in her own campus life. Our schedules were busier than ever, yet our foundation remained strong, steady, and full of commitment. Then came senior year—the year everything changed. Darren drove to Harrisonburg with a plan: Chipotle, a peaceful afternoon at Bluestone Vineyard, and the question he had been praying and preparing for. After enjoying good food, wine, and a beautiful view, we took a walk through the vineyard. Darren—nervous as can be—stopped, took a breath, and asked Faith to marry him. She said yes. Now, we are here—joyfully engaged, grateful for every chapter that has led us to this moment, and excited as we prepare for marriage. This season has been a blessing, giving us space to grow, reflect, and ready our hearts to love one another fully in marriage. This is our story—and the beginning of the beautiful life we cannot wait to share together.
