Places to Explore

Liberty State Park

This park is right next to our venue! We recommend taking a stroll or biking along the waterfront because of the awesome views of the Manhattan skyline, Ellis Island, and the Statue of Liberty. You can also pack a picnic and use one of the many lawns, picnic tables, or barbecue spots.

Statute of Liberty & Ellis Island

The Statue of Liberty National Monument is a national park within the National Park Service. This park includes both Liberty Island, home to the Statue of Liberty, and Ellis Island. Ferries depart from Jersey City and Manhattan.

Liberty Science Center

This is a hands-on museum with interactive exhibits, a huge planetarium, and an IMAX/dome theater. It's great for kids or if you want to stay indoors.

Liberty Landing Marina

This is a nice place for a walk by the water, watching boats, and taking a ferry or charter ride. It is also great for dinner with views of Manhattan!

Our Favorite Waterfront Walkways

1. Hudson River Waterfront Walkway is great for walking, jogging, and taking photos. For example, the promenade near Exchange Place offers skyline views of NYC. 2. Wander Grove Street / Newark Ave Pedestrian Plaza has tons of shops, murals, and coffee spots. 3. Exploring downtown Jersey City (including streets like Grove Street) gives you a feel for its layered history: murals, Victorian homes, local shops, and street life. 4. Check out the Powerhouse Arts District nearby for galleries and architecture.

RoofTop at Exchange Place

We celebrated the Fourth of July here in 2022 and it was amazing! It is an upscale rooftop with retractable glass walls/roof, skyline + Hudson River views, craft cocktails & small bites.

Surf City Bar

Surf City Bar is a waterfront hangout with food, bars, and relaxed, beachy vibes. They also have a DJ and dance floor on the weekends!

Cellar 335

Cellar 335 is a tropical/tiki bar inspired restaurant with a large selection of great cocktails.

Battello

Battello is a scenic waterfront restaurant with a contemporary Italian and seafood-influenced menu with striking views of the Manhattan skyline. The food is amazing!

Razza

Razza has excellent brick-oven pizza and is ranked among the top pizzerias in the United States.

Jane Doe

Jane Doe is a chic neighborhood spot, good for a stylish but not overly formal meal. We loved it there!

Lokal Eatery & Bar

Lokal Eatery & Bar is another waterfront restaurant with globally inspired dishes and seafood + cocktails.

Places to Sip Coffee

Modcup Coffee Company

Modcup Coffee Company is a specialty coffee roaster. It has amazing pour-overs and nitro cold brew.

Hidden Grounds Chai & Coffee House

Hidden Grounds Coffee is a cozy, modern café with strong espresso and seasonal drinks. There are actually two locations which are both less than a 10-minute walk from the Residence Inn.

Treehouse Coffee Shop

Treehouse Coffee Shop is a colorful, friendly café with a back patio; it's perfect for working or relaxing.

Dames Coffee Espresso Bar

Dames Coffee Espresso Bar has a warm, European feel with excellent lattes and a garden patio.
