This is one of the most wonderful places you can visit during your stay in Medellin. It is about 2 hours away from Medellin but it is worth it. It’s a must see, it does require a full day. If you need transportation arrangements, please let us know.
Jardín is known for its brightly painted houses, colorful floral displays and milk candies. The main plaza, El Libertador Park, features rose gardens, a central fountain and the twin-towered, neo-Gothic Basilica of the Immaculate Conception, with views from its bell tower. The nearby Clara Rojas Peláez House Museum offers art, antiques and a library in a colonial building.
Pueblito Paisa is located at the top of Cerro Nutibara (Nutibara Hill) and it’s one of the most popular tourist attractions in Medellín. Pueblito Paisa is a replica of a turn of the century town in Antioquia, complete with a fountain in the middle of a cobblestone town square plus a white church. Since it is located on a high hill in the middle of the Aburrá Valley, it also offers great views of the city of Medellín and the surrounding mountains.Due to being a popular tourist spot, there are several shops selling souvenirs. In addition, there are several restaurants serving coffee, ice cream and many typical Colombian foods like bandeja paisa.
El Mirador San Felix is a really beautiful place with great views. Though the weather is a bit cold, it's worth the visit. It's big sport is paragliding. It also has nice, cool sites. This place is just on the outskirts of the city and is great for those who love fresh air.
Arví Park is both an ecological nature preserve and Pre-Hispanic archeological site on the eastern slopes of Aburrá Valley, in the northeast area of Medellín, It covers 16,000 hectares, 1,760 of which are in the state of natural forests. And it is equipped with 54 miles of walkable trails. It is a major tourist attraction, known for its wildflowers, butterflies and trails. Activities include hiking, nature tours, cycling, and outdoor adventure sports. An outdoor food market is located next to the gondola station. The Piedras Blancas Ecological Hotel and its private reserve are adjacent to the park. The park can be reached from downtown Medellín via the metro station. Line L on the Medellín Metro goes to Arví station, where there is a direct link to the metrocables that go to the park
Botero Plaza, surrounded by the Museum of Antioquia and the Rafael Uribe Uribe Palace of Culture, is a 7,000 m² outside park that displays 23 sculptures by Colombian artist Fernando Botero, who donated these and several other artworks for the museum's renovation in 2004. Botero’s signature sculptures in large and voluptuous proportions are worth millions of dollars. And they can be found in prominent places around the world, including Park Avenue in New York City.
El Castillo Museum and Gardens is a Colombian museum in the El Poblado district of Medellín. It offers permanent exhibitions of objects in porcelain and glass, stained glass, antiques, paintings, and sculptures, among other things. The permanent exhibit contains nine rooms and an outside garden
Medellín’s Museo de Arte Moderno (Modern Art Museum) is definitely worth a visit with an intriguing mix of exhibitions located in a striking building. Colombia has a vibrant cultural scene. The fusing of indigenous, Spanish and African heritages has merged to create authors, musicians and dancers that captivate the interest of the rest of the world. Just think about the literary great Gabriel García Márquez and the singer extraordinaire Shakira.
Jardín Botánico is the popular Medellín botanical gardens, which offers many sights to see and activities to enjoy. The ambience of the botanical gardens is relaxed. You will see families, students, groups of friends plus individuals enjoying the green gardens and open space. The botanical gardens are free to enter. It is home to a tropical forest, a small lake, a desert garden, a butterfly farm and much more. And there is a decent variety of birds if you are into bird watching.
