Bogotá is Colombia’s largest city and capital. High in the Andes Mountains, around 2,640 meters (8,660 ft) above sea level, it is one of the highest capitals in the world. Despite being near the equator, Bogotá’s high altitude gives it unpredictable weather. On the same day, it may be chilly, then warm and sunny, followed by rain and a cool evening. Locals joke that Bogotá has four seasons in a single day. With heavy traffic and a still unfinished metro system, bicycles and motorcycles are often the fastest way to get around the city of over 11 million people including its metropolitan area. Founded by Spanish conqueror Gonzalo Jiménez de Quesada 488 years ago on Muisca territory, evolving from a colonial past to a modern metropolis, Bogotá is called the Athens of South America for its universities, museums, and art. During the wedding weekend, we will spend most of the time in the metropolitan area. We will make sure you try to visit some iconic places and show you a great time 💛💙❤️
