We appreciate that you are traveling to celebrate with us - that is a huge gift, so other gifts are not expected. However if you'd like to give an additional gift, we are registered at zola.com/registry/eversoleshively.
Please contact us directly if you would like to bring your kids along.
Casual, beachy attire is great - linens, shorts, dresses, flip flops. Anything goes.
We arrive on Tuesday, Nov 27 and plan to check out of our hotel on Mon, Dec 3 then continue traveling in the area a bit. We encourage all of our guests to make a vacation out of it - please let us know if you will get there early / be able to stay later.
One thing we love most about Tulum beach is you can walk everywhere. We hope you stay close enough to walk to all events (or, if you prefer, take a short taxi -- they're everywhere). It's about a 10-minute walk from the ceremony at ArenaBlue to the reception at Gitano. We'll provide the road sodas!
Yes! Many places in Tulum don't accept credit cards. Everywhere will accept either pesos or dollars, but you'll go further with pesos. We recommend grabbing pesos before you get to Tulum. Lines are long there, and the exchange rate is better from your bank or airport. Otherwise, stop at the ATM at the Chedruai (the big grocery store on the way into Tulum) or the HSBC in the pueblo. Don't rely on ATMs in town - they are usually broken!
We fully respect whatever decision our friends make regarding concerns over Zika. We have researched this topic extensively and feel confident that we are not exposing our guests to any risk or complications from the virus. However, we feel it is important for our guests to make the best decision for them. The World Health Organization declared Zika a Global Health Emergency on February 1, 2016 because it appears to have a small correlation to an increase in microcephaly for infected newborns. Since January 2016, Mexican authorities have only found 5 cases of Zika-linked microcephaly from a population of 4,804 pregnant women who tested positive for the virus. None of these births took place in the Yucatan. The lifecycle of the mosquito which carries Zika (Aedes aegypti) runs from late July-early Nov in the Yucatan. We do not expect that mosquito to be abundant during the wedding. Sources: World Health Org: http://bit.ly/2oY5aAt Center for Disease Control: http://bit.ly/2aexzI4
