Yes, they met at work. This was pre-COVID, so a pretty standard office romance, right? Well... Evan was living in Florida and working remotely for a marketing agency that was located in New York City. Victoria was also working for this agency, but living in NYC. Their roles were closely intertwined and so many phone calls took place, during which they slowly developed a mutual interest - but neither would admit it at the time. Plus, long-distance relationships are hard for any couple, and starting a relationship long-distance is nearly impossible. The kicker is despite living in New York, Victoria traveled to the Tampa area semi-frequently because her parents happened to own a vacation home there. On one of these trips, she "shot her shot" and asked Evan if he wanted to get dinner. The mutual interest that had developed over work phone calls was confirmed when they met in person, and the rest is history (a year of long-distance, followed by Evan convincing Victoria to move to Florida with him - not too difficult of a sales pitch considering her hatred of cold weather).
It was a beautiful day in quarantine. After a semi-debacle of Evan trying to get the engagement ring that he ordered right at the beginning of the pandemic, everything was in place for the big question. About two months into the pandemic, the excitement of their new home had worn off a bit and the COVID malaise was real, so they decided to have a "date night", which consisted of getting takeout and putting on clothes other than t-shirts and basketball shorts to eat at home. This was the perfect opportunity to pop the question, since Victoria was fairly dressed up and in a great mood. After dinner, Evan and Madison (their dog) went upstairs, and came back down a few moments later with Maddie carrying a small jewelry bag in her mouth. She presented it to Victoria, while Evan got down on one knee. She quickly said yes, and Evan breathed a big sigh of relief. (You can never be too sure!)
