Latoya and Rox met a few weeks after Rox moved to Oregon. Eager to make new friends, she went swing dancing alone—only to spend the night with Latoya laughing uncontrollably at her when she found out that Rox had joined a women’s pinball league to make friends. But after a few minutes of roasting each other (and a random stranger for good measure), they realized they were kindred spirits. As they got to know each other that night, they discovered an eerie coincidence—years earlier, Latoya had unknowingly attended Rox’s Virginia Tech undergraduate graduation while there for her brother’s ceremony the same day. That’s when they knew the universe had pulled them together. Their shared sarcasm forged a sister-like bond that has only grown stronger. Though Rox has since moved away, they make sure to visit each other every year. And when Rox left, she made sure Ev would be there to take care of her girl—because some friendships are forever, no matter the distance.

Charles Collingwood-Boots

Charles Collingwood-Boots, aka, Chuck, Chuckie Boots, Chesney, Charlie. Charles and Ev met in 1989, a year before Roxy was born (yikes). As 11-year-old (not so) innocents, an instant friendship was formed and the two of them have chronicles of adventures together. Charles has (debatably) always been the steadiest of heads when the pair of them are together and after 36 years of friendship remain the very best of friends. Countless laughs, great times and solid backing for one another when the chips are down has been the catalyst for this incredible mateship. Charles is married to Erica, who has had the task of making sure Evan and Charles do not get into too much mischief when together, and they have two sons. Otis, whom Ev is godfather to, and Oscar.

Rehanna Jones

Rehanna and Rox have known each other since they were three years old—though Rehanna had no idea she’d be stuck with Rox for life. Despite being a year older, Rehanna has never been spared from Rox treating her like a little sister, their lifelong sibling-like dynamic filled with constant bickering. True to form, Rehanna will absolutely hate the picture Rox picks for this website, remind everyone of Rox’s multiple childhood attempts to drown her in Lake Anna, and recall every embarrassing moment Rox put her through during their adolescence. Yet, somehow, their friendship has survived years of torment (mostly Rox's fault) and long-distance separation. Since moving to overseas after high school, Rehanna has never returned to the state—but their bond has remained unshakable. Rather than letting distance keep them apart, they’ve turned their friendship into a passport to adventure, traveling together to Japan, Belgium, and London—now adding Australia to the list. And with so many places left to explore, they can’t wait to see where their next adventure takes them.

Aby Youssef

Aby, aka Lebathor, hails from Boston and lives in the West Village of New Yawk. Ev and Aby met in 2020 at one of the greatest 4th of July parties the world has ever seen. A gentleman who upon first meeting threw his open arms around me, greeting me like a long-lost friend, carried my bags into the house. From that moment onwards, the bromance grew. Aby is one of the greatest humans you will meet and is the guy you want on your side if you run into trouble. Ev and Aby have had some wonderful adventures together in the US, Mexico and Spain. Aby was the first of Ev's friends to meet (and vet) Roxy where we sang Karaoke until 4am. He has a new appreciation for Cat's, even though he is a Dog guy, and this is largely due to his incredibly talented, intelligent, and better looking half, Serena. A wing man like no other, should you wish to experience Chichen Itza under the cover of darkness or take on a 65' cliff jump, this is your guy.

Amanda Broderick

Amanda and Rox’s first meeting in grad school was less than ideal—so we’ll skip that. Instead, we’ll fast-forward to their first real friend date during a work trip, where beers sealed the deal on their friendship. From conference travel buddies to running partners, they quickly bonded over their shared love of cats, Amanda’s perfect grammar and spelling, and Rox’s constant typos. Over time, Amanda became one of Rox’s closest confidants, offering unwavering support through every life transition. No matter how questionable Rox’s judgment may have been at times, Amanda’s emotional support has always been unconditional—proving that true friendship means standing by each other, no matter what (even through the grammatical chaos).

Andrew Gower

Andrew Gower aka Gaz. A brother from another mother. Andrew and Ev met when Gaz was five years old when Ev claimed the unofficial title 'best babysitter' for him and his sister Emily in their younger years. The Gower Family of Michael, Marina, Andrew and Emily moved to the UK around 15 years ago but are never far away from the heart. No trip to London has been without spending great laughs and memorable times with Andrew. Ev and Roxy have recently travelled to the UK for both Andrew and Emily's wedding in 2023, and to France for Emily and Emilien's wedding in 2024. It has been said that Ev has lead Andrew astray at times, but don't believe everything you hear! The brotherly bond stretches over 30 years, and Andrew is one of the most thoughtful, kind and loving guys. He is husband to Emily (not his sister) and father to little Pheobe.

Jon Reader

Jon and Roxy met during visitation weekend at Penn State, and their friendship was sealed the moment Jon offered her an “ashtray” shot. Without hesitation, Rox said yes—because, of course, she did. From that moment on, their bond was set. Their trio wouldn’t be complete without Emily Waterman, the more responsible and level-headed member of the group. Though she can’t attend, Jon will be representing them both. True to form, Emily made the sensible choice of skipping the bars when they were interviewing at Penn State—while Jon and Rox saw no reason not to celebrate with a drink since they were all technically already accepted. Over the years, every reckless decision Jon and Rox made was a united front, inevitably dragging Emily down with them—despite her best efforts to keep them in check. Their grad school years were shaped by late nights, laughter, and dancing to live music at Zeno’s—memories that continue to define their friendship to this day.

Will Sturrock

Will, short for William David Douglas Sturrock, or WDDS as he is otherwise known is the fifth born child to David and Penny and is Evan's brother. With four sisters, Briony, Tegan, Finella and Imogen, the boys have always had the numbers stacked against them. Will is a talented musician, artist, art curator, and one of the bunch of Bananas in the world of Joe Bananas. The brothers are often mistaken for one another, and this has sometimes allowed each of them to get into, or out of a sticky situation. Will has an incredible wife, Finola, who is daughter / sister-in-law to the family, and they have three children who will be part of the flower parade on the big day, Freya, Rani and Sidney.

Amanda is the heart of Rox and Evan’s California family. They met Amanda the first year in California, and Rox still wonders how they got by without her. From keeping them up-to-date on the best deals and planning family outings to creating a warm and welcoming home, Amanda has been an anchor in their lives. She has seamlessly woven them into her circle of family and friends, providing a safe space to celebrate holidays, vent about life, go on adventures, and spend time with the kids. As the ultimate planner, Amanda is instrumental in everything they do—making every moment more special just by being part of it.

Kim Bourke

Kim Bourke aka Kimbo is Evan's business partner and brains behind the operation that consumes both their lives, Joe Bananas. Ev and Kim partnered up with the business in 2013 and have grown the Banana Empire from Australia as far as New York and Newport Beach, CA. More than that, Kim is on of Ev's best mates and confidants, he is Fijian/Australian and in his spare time, a Dive instructor, sports enthusiast and a smile that can be seen at all times. Kim is also Evan's brother-in-law, married to Imogen, Evan's youngest sister and they have two children, Tully (7 years) and Aura (4 Years).
