Flight
Several airlines operate flights to Sydney from the United States, including Qantas, United, Delta, American Airlines, and Hawaiian Airlines. West Coast cities like Los Angeles, San Francisco, and Seattle typically offer shorter direct flights (around 14-15 hours). If you're traveling from the East Coast, such as New York or Miami, expect a longer journey (20+ hours with connections). Qantas also fly from Dallas Direct (get ready for a long flight). Travel Note
FOR THOSE COMING TO SYDNEY FOR THE FIRST TIME Sydney can be a tricky place to get around due to the geography and waterways. Our home base in Sydney is in Manly Beach, the wedding is approx. 45 minutes north of Manly / 60 Min from the city, at the southern end of Pittwater (without traffic), up in Church Point. If you are staying closer to Sydney, Uber's and Taxi are the best way to get to and from the venue. We will be staying in Manly until Wednesday before the wedding and you may like to stay in the CBD of Sydney, (Central Business District / Sydney Proper). It is an easy commute to Manly to and from the City with the Manly Ferry / Fast Ferry (around 20-25 mins across Sydney Harbour) to access all that Sydney offers. HOW TO GET AROUND Sydney has an excellent public transport system of Ferries, Trains, Buses, and Metro. If you are looking into alternative transport from the airport from Uber or Taxis, there is a direct train service to Circular Quay if you are staying in the City, and Ferries leave to Manly every 20-30 minutes. Driving around Sydney can be challenging if you haven't driven on the left before but suggest if you need a rental car to arrange one for your arrival at the airport. Sydney’s public transportation, including buses, trains, and ferries, is efficient and can get you to most places of interest. However, if you plan to explore outside the city to the Blue Mountains, Southern Highlands or Hunter Valley wine region, renting a car might be a good idea. IMPORTANT NOTE – SYDNEY MARATHON – SUNDAY AFTER THE WEDDING If you are leaving Sydney on the Sunday after the wedding, please know the Sydney Marathon is on and the Sydney Harbour Bridge will be closed, the Sydney Harbour Tunnel will remain open, but you should consider this in your travel time to the airport if leaving the city (and getting around the city) as there be some road closures - https://www.tcssydneymarathon.com/
Travel Note
We highly recommend arriving a few days early to adjust to the time difference and experience the incredible sights Sydney has to offer. Don’t miss iconic landmarks like the Sydney Opera House, Bondi / Manly Beach, and the Sydney Harbour Bridge. If you have some extra time in Sydney, consider taking a day trip to either Hunter Valley or the Blue Mountains—both incredible destinations just a short drive away! Hunter Valley is perfect for wine lovers, offering world-class vineyards, delicious local food, and beautiful rolling countryside. Spend the day wine tasting, enjoying gourmet meals, and soaking in the scenic views. If you’re more into nature and adventure, the Blue Mountains is a must-see. With stunning cliffs, waterfalls, and eucalyptus forests, it’s a great spot for hiking, exploring charming mountain villages, or taking in the breathtaking views of the Three Sisters rock formation. Whichever you choose, you can’t go wrong—it’s the perfect way to experience more of Australia’s beauty while you’re here! 🍷🌿✨ Make the most of your trip Down Under by adding other destinations to your itinerary.
