Maid of Honor
Liviya has been my best friend since she was born whether she's always agreed to it or not. Liviya takes credit for Evan and I meeting. I feel so lucky to have a best friend and a sister all in the same person. Liviya lives in Kenya and I am happy she's able to make it to Chicago for the big day.
Best Man
Evan and Brendan met in the late 1980's when they grew up together as they are brothers. They had a number of differing interests but did enjoy playing games (video and otherwise) together and shared a love of Futurama and The X-Files. Evan followed Brendan through grade and high school with some years of overlap before Brendan moved to California and eventually Europe. Brendan currently lives in London but often comes home to Chicago and he and Evan make sure to meet and catch up.
Bridesmaid
Emily was my randomly assigned freshman year roommate at Ohio State and we've been best friends ever since. I finally got Emily to live in the same city as me after a long four years. Emily helped Evan plan our whole proposal and this day wouldn't have happened without her!
Groomsman
Evan and AJ met in high school when they sat at the same lunch table. They've been friends since--sharing classes, out of state trips, and a couple doomed business endeavors. AJ currently has a successful business of his own as well as a contentious stranglehold on the position of commissioner for their long running fantasy football league.
Bridesman
Tim and I were fortunate to have met right before freshman year of college and became instant best friends after getting in trouble together. We've had each other's backs ever since. Tim was present for our engagement and I am so excited to have him stand by side as I say "I do"!
Groomsman
Drew and Evan ran Cross Country and Track together in high school and they share many of the same musical tastes despite a few notable exceptions. Evan saw his first concert (Pearl Jam) with Drew and they have also gone to the Bonaroo music festival outside Nashville several times. Drew and his wife Alice recently moved to Denver seeking a more outdoors lifestyle, but he and Evan still see each other often.
Bridesmaid
Hannah and I work together and I don't think I would survive without her. I feel so lucky that I get to see her everyday and that I get to call her one of my best friends. Hannah makes every party fun and I am so excited to celebrate with her on my big day!
Groomsman
Dennis and Evan have been friends for 17 years, since waking up at 7 AM every morning for summer Cross Country practice prior to starting high school. They have a mutual interest in movies and TV outside the mainstream as well as laughing about situations and stories many others don't generally appreciate. Dennis works as a teacher and though he lives on the southwest side of Chicago in the Pilsen neighborhood he is always down to make the effort to meet up.
Groomsman
Jacob and Evan met at the University of Chicago sharing the same Freshman dorm and Track team. They became friends after they both realized--with great relief--they had common interests outside most of the typical Uchicago students: sports, going to parties, and not spending all their free time at the library. Jacob has built a successful career doing quantitative modeling and has finally convinced Evan to "take up" golf (though to what level of commitment remains to be seen).
