The easiest way to get to Harbour Island is to fly into North Eleuthera Airport (ELH). After landing at ELH, you will collect your luggage and make your way through customs. You will take a 5 min taxi to the boat dock ($5 + tip) then a 10 min water taxi ($10 + tip) and for Harbour Island guests another 5 min taxi (about $5 + tip). Taxis will be available and waiting at each location. The taxis and water taxis are CASH ONLY. American dollars are accepted. The whole trip is quick! You can expect to be on Harbour Island / North Eleuthera less than an hour after your plane lands. ALL GUESTS: TAXI FROM AIRPORT TO THREE ISLANDS DOCK (5 min) There will be taxis waiting outside the airport, let them know that you are headed to Harbour Island. Travel Note
The US Dollar and Bahamian Dollar (1:1 exchange rate) are both accepted throughout the island (as are most major credit cards) so exchanging money won't be necessary. An ATM can be found at the RBC branch at the top of Dunmore Street. Be sure you have some cash handy upon arrival for taxis/transport!
Travel Note
You will need your passport to enter the Bahamas. Check those expiration dates now! Though wait times for passport renewals have drastically improved from last year, standard passport renewals currently fall between eight and eleven weeks.
Travel Note
A golf cart rental is the most convenient way to explore Harbour Island. Remember to drive on the LEFT SIDE of the road. Rates will vary, but you can expect to pay about $65 - 95/day. Available carts can seat 4 - 6 passengers, so a small group can share the cost of one rental cart. You can also inquire with your hotel or airbnb who may have a cart rented on your behalf. Gas and delivery/pickup should be included for all rentals.
