FAQs

The Wedding Website of Evan Louey-Dacus and Melinda Huspen
Question

Will the ceremony be live-streamed?

Answer

No, it will not be live-streamed. However, we have hired a videographer to record the ceremony, and they will upload the recording within a couple of hours of the conclusion of the ceremony to this link: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1_a0OzslRqVgW-IrRIKvVeXi6mgljPN_j/view?usp=drivesdk The ceremony location does not have Wi-Fi, so for friends and family unable to attend in person this is the closest we can get to live-streaming (and overall it’ll be a better quality watch).

Question

May we film or take pictures with our phones?

Answer

During the ceremony, everyone will have a dedicated opportunity (announced by our officiant) to take pictures of the bride and groom. After that, we kindly ask that everyone fully power down any of their personal devices and avoid using them for the duration of the ceremony. This is very important to us and you will be gently asked to put your phone away or step outside to take any urgent calls. We will have a professional photographer present for the ceremony and we will share those pictures with everyone as soon as they are ready. For the cocktail hour and reception, we would love to see your memories of our celebration! We’ll also be having some family and friends taking official photos at the reception, and a staff member at Marchand Ranch capturing moments throughout the reception.

Question

What is the dress code?

Answer

The dress code at our wedding will be "Semi-Formal." For men this means button-downs and sports coats or suit jackets (ties welcome but not required) and for women this means cocktail or Sunday best dresses. Tuxedos are not required. We kindly ask that: 1. Your outfit remain modest, as children will be present. 2. From Evan: Refrain from wearing loud patterns or neon colors. 3. From Evan: He requests that guests avoid wearing khaki or tan. 4. Men: Wear dress shoes or a clean pair of boots (Evan requests avoiding sneakers). 5. Women: There is gravel and other uneven surfaces throughout the wedding venue, particularly between the ceremony site and the reception venue. Choose your footwear accordingly (Mindy recommends no stilettos or thin heels).

Question

Are kids welcome?

Answer

Yes! We would love to have your children join in our celebration. Just let us know they’re coming so we can plan accordingly. :)

Question

Can I bring a date/+1?

Answer

We do have limited space for the ceremony and reception, so if you would like to bring guests not listed on your invitation or RSVP please check in with Evan and/or Mindy and we can let you know based on our confirmed guest count.

Question

I have a food allergy or dietary restriction, can I make any special requests?

Answer

Absolutely! Gluten-free options will be readily available, and for any other allergies or dietary needs please let us know in your RSVP so we can accommodate.

Question

When should I RSVP by?

Answer

Please RSVP by September 12th so we can get an accurate headcount and finalize catering/transportation details for everyone.

Question

How do we get to your venue?

Answer

The wedding venue is nestled on a quiet country road about 15 minutes west of Canon City, Colorado. For guests flying in, you can either book your flight for Denver International or Colorado Springs airports. See our Travel Page for more details. If you are unable to coordinate a carpool with other guests and you are concerned about rental costs, please book your flight for Colorado Springs and reach out to us for solutions. We are blessed with some volunteers who are willing to make extra trips if needed. For parking/shuttle service information, please refer to the Travel section of our website for additional info. We will be arranging a shuttle service to and from the wedding venue from downtown Canon City, details TBD. We only have 50 parking spots at the venue, so if you are arriving by car let us know in your RSVP. Otherwise, let us know how you will be getting to the venue (carpool, shuttle service, you don't know yet, etc.) and we will plan accordingly! The exact venue address is: Marchand Ranch 4807 CO-9 Cañon City, CO 81212

Question

What time should I arrive at the ceremony?

Answer

If you are driving to the venue, please arrive about 10-20 minutes early for the ceremony, which will begin at 4:00 pm on Sunday, October 12. We will have shade and water available before the ceremony starts.

Question

Will the wedding be indoors or outdoors?

Answer

The ceremony will be outdoors (weather permitting), the mix and mingle hour will be outdoors, and the reception dinner will be hosted indoors. In the Canon City area in October the mid-afternoon temperature averages 65 degrees Fahrenheit, so bring a jacket or outer layer for the ceremony in case there is a chilly breeze.

Question

What are some things to do in the area over the holiday weekend?

Answer

If you love gorgeous views, outdoor recreation, and the history of the American West, you will love Canon City. Some activities in Canon include: 1. Whitewater rafting 2. Royal Gorge ziplining 3. Royal Gorge Route Railroad 4. Royal Gorge Bridge and Park (the highest suspension bridge in the US) 5. Arkansas River Walk or Tunnel Drive Trail for casual hiking/walking options 6. Royal George Dinosaur Experience 7. Fremont Center of the Arts 8. Skyline Drive If you like the sound of the first 3 and don't know where to start, Marchand Ranch recommends speaking with Will Colon at royalgorge.info. You can contact Will at 719-445-8300. If you want to turn the wedding trip into a holiday weekend getaway, there are also several fun things to do in the region outside of Canon City! Our suggestions include: 1. Great Sand Dunes National Park (yes, sand dunes in the mountains of Colorado!) 2. Mount Princeton Hot Springs 3. Bishop Castle 4. Red Rocks Amphitheater Colorado Springs has an assortment of great attractions as well, including but not limited to: 1. Garden of the Gods 2. U.S. Olympic and Paralympic Museum 3. Pro Rodeo Hall of Fame/Museum of the American Cowboy 4. Cheyenne Mountain Zoo 5. Old Colorado City, the city's walkable downtown historic district 6. Pikes Peak, accessible via the Cog Railway or the Pikes Peak Highway (reservations required). If you go to the summit, try the doughnuts!
