The closest airport to Rethymno, located approximately 22 miles (35.3 km) northwest of the city centre. Limited direct buses run from Chania airport to Rethymno bus station. Tickets are around 8 euros. Alternatively, you can a bus from Chania airport to Chania city, and then take another bus from there to Rethymno. Heraklion International Airport N. Kazantzakis

You can also fly in to Heraklion, which has slightly better connectivity than Chania. There is a bus from Heraklion airport to Heraklion Central Bus Station (15 minutes), and from there you can take another bus to Rethymno bus station (1 hour).
