It all started in Downtown Davis, CA. Ethan was in the US Airforce on a night out with some buddies. Antoinette was finishing up her 4th year at UC Davis enjoying a night off. They saw each other from across the bar. Ethan introduced himself first and said, "So you like food?". Contacts were exchanged, she hardly gave him her real name and a date was set up for the near future. Their first date was lunch at De Ver's and a tour of a research greenhouse.
Our decision to move to Colorado has been one of the toughest, yet most rewarding experiences of our lives. We have both been able to chase our dreams and dive deeper into our relationship. Ethan has pursued his degree in the College of Business at Colorado State University and is graduating in May 2021. Antoinette has been working with a local family farm and getting her Masters in Horticulture. Together we have enjoyed all the Colorado things; beers, bikes, hiking, and skiing. Most recently, we have been remodeling a home together all while surviving a global pandemic. We are grateful for all the love and support our families and friends have shown us through the years. We know we wouldn't be where we are without the strong communities that helped shape us.
We were enjoy our winter break and just finished remodeling the kitchen in our home. We decided to head to Winter Park and go skiing for the day. When we got there, I knew something was going on because he is always in such a rush to get on the runs. Instead, he was taking it easy and packed a backpack. We got off the lift and at the middle of the mountain there is a lodge where people were enjoying a break on the patio. He asked somebody to take a photo, so I thought. He actually asked her to take a video and he insisted we take off our skies. Again a little suspicious but I did it. She pretending to take a few photos and I was holding on to Ethan so tight he didn't get a chance to get the ring out. I went to get the phone from the stranger and when I was reaching for it she told me to turn around. Ethan was down on one knee and the patio at the lodge was cheering. It was so sweet and the video will be something we can always appreciate. We took the day to celebrate and cherish the moment together. We called family that night and let friends know soon after.
