We met through a dating app called "Bumble" but don't worry, I had my brother do a background check on him before meeting in person. Ty and I's first conversation was about football, I mean what else would it be about? I asked for Ty's number that week but forgot that I even asked for it, I didn't text him until 4 days later. Ty thought I ghosted him, but really I just forgot! Ty and I talked for about 3 weeks until he asked me to go see the Christmas Lights in Toledo that year, and I told him "no" at that time because I was at home up north with my parents. He then invited me to his birthday dinner with his friends, and again, I was not in town. Finally, on January 3rd, 2021, he asked me to go get dinner at Buffalo Wild Wings, and of course, I said "Yes!" He picked me up from my apartment in Adrian, Michigan. Ever since that day, Ty and I have become each other's best friends. I'm so glad that my friend Jessica forced me not to cancel my date with him, just because I could not find a cute outfit to wear, Thanks Jess!
First off, I did not see this proposal coming at all. Ty had mentioned that he would not propose to me when my friend was in town, because it would be too obvious. I had said that I wanted to go see the Christmas lights at Toledo Zoo that year. Ty had bought tickets to see them while my friend was in town so we could all go together. Ty also invited his best friend Chris Parker because he wanted to take pictures of the lights. I did not think much of it. The day comes, December 29, my friend told me to put something cute on, but of course, I am very stubborn and kept asking "Why?" I had made a comment to my friend while getting ready, I said: "I always wanted to get engaged at the Chrismas Lights but of course, you're here, so that will not happen". We all then went to the mall to go "shopping" but really a distraction. Everyone seemed edgy, there were rushing me to eat my Chic-Fil-A, I told them that we had plenty of time to go see the Christmas Lights. my friend also made sure that I got my nails done, I'm so glad she made me get them done. We all finally arrived at Toledo Zoo to see the lights, during this time, I was distracted by all animals and of course taking in all the beautiful Christmas lights. When we approached the HUGE Christmas tree at the zoo, I turned around and Ty was on one knee and asked if I wanted to marry him. To be honest, he said something more, but I was busy CRYING. Chris, Ty's best man, then took amazing pictures of Ty and I's beautiful engagement. We're so excited to celebrate this next chapter in our lives with you. See you in Marquette!
