Option 1: Amerigo Vespucci Airport (Florence, Italy) - This airport is about 1 hour and 15 minutes from the wedding events and one of the largest airports in the area. Option 2: San Francesco d'Assisi Airport (Perugia PG, Italy) This airport is about 50 minutes away from the wedding events. This is a very small airport. Option 3: Leonardo da Vinci–Fiumicino Airport (Rome, Italy) This airport is about a 2+ hour drive to the wedding events. However, there may likely be many flight options as it is one of the largest airports in the area.
Travel Note
Renting a car in Italy is a great option, particularly since they drive on the right side of the road. Keep in mind that many vehicles are manual, and automatics are not as common so it's wise to book early! The airports have the best selection of vehicles, but also higher prices. Hertz and Avis have a lot more locations outside of the airports than other companies. When renting a car in a foreign country, insurance is worth the peace of mind. Be aware that speed cameras are widespread. Having a co-pilot is helpful, and Google Maps can be a valuable tool. Driving in rural areas is generally low-stress, though the roads can feel as narrow as a golf cart path at times. Be comfortable navigating roundabouts, as they are common. Train
Trains and buses are a great way to travel across Italy! You can easily see the train and bus routes using Google Maps. From the Florence airport, you will navigate to the Forlanini Rastrelli train station. From there, you will travel for about 1hr and 45 minutes and arrive at Bettolle Piazza Del Popolo. From the Rome airport, you will need to navigate a bit more. You will travel from Fiumicino Aeroporto to Roma Tiburtina (48 minutes). From there, you will walk or taxi to Rome Tiburtina Bus Station and take a 2 hour bus ride and arrive at Bettolle Piazza Del Popolo.
