Duke Gardens is a stunning botanical garden within walking distance from the Washington Duke. The garden spans over 55-acres with magnificent landscaping and features thousands of different plant species. Its mission is to create and nurture an environment in the heart of Duke University for learning, inspiration and enjoyment through excellence in horticulture and community engagement. Admission is free and open from 8 am to dusk.
The Nasher is a fascinating art museum on Duke's campus. The collection contains more than 13,000 works of art, ranging from ancient relics to contemporary art. Time spent at the museum is typically between 1-3 hours. Check out their signature cafe afterwards for a delicious meal!
The Duke University Golf Club, located next to the The Washington Duke Inn. Designed by Robert Trent Jones, Sr in 1959, this beautiful 18-hole golf course is considered one of the top ten best golf courses in North Carolina. Tee times are open to the public. Watch out for the water on hole #12!
