Lindsey and Daniel met for the first time during their sophomore year at Wake Forest. It was around 8:30 am and they were both standing in line by the cafeteria omelet station. Lindsey was properly dressed for the day, having already showered after soccer practice. Daniel, however, appeared disheveled after working through the night on a Computer Science project. As he placed his breakfast order, Daniel made a joke about his appearance to Miss Netta, the cafeteria chef who was friendly with Daniel. Lindsey overheard the joke and laughed. She decided to introduce herself to Daniel while they waited for their omelets. But the conversation lasted thirty seconds and left no impression. Lindsey ended up forgetting about the interaction with the gentleman wearing baggy Yankees baseball pajamas. Six months later, Daniel tagged along with a friend to a party hosted by a few of their classmates. Upon arriving, Daniel ran into Lindsey and mustered up a second attempt at a conversation. Not realizing they’d met before, Lindsey was impressed by Daniel. She admired his glowing smile and his ability to make her laugh, to the point where she was out of breath. She found herself engaged in an enjoyable conversation with such a thoughtful and charming man. As for Daniel, he was drawn to Lindsey’s beauty, intelligence, and kindness. He thought this was the the most beautiful woman to ever laugh at his jokes.
The encounter led to the start of their friendship, and soon enough, they pursed every opportunity to spend more time each other. Daniel began studying in Farrell Hall, where Lindsey was taking her Business and Marketing classes. To conveniently spend an evening with Lindsey, he convinced his friends to organize a social mixer with the women’s soccer team (it turned out to be an easy sell). Meanwhile Lindsey would text Daniel about her favorite restaurants in Winston-Salem and make plans for group dinners. She also went to practice earlier so that she could stop by Poteat Field and say hello to Daniel when he was playing pick-up soccer. They cherished every moment they could see each other. In short time, their romantic pursuits sparked into love. Their first date was at Señor Willies, a “famous” taco truck, chaperoned by a couple of Daniel’s friends. Later that summer, they went on an official first date when they ate barbeque at a restaurant in Raleigh and watched The Great Gatsby at the movie theater. They continued to date the remainder of their time at Wake, and soon after graduation, they moved to New York City to begin their job careers.
Seven years later, Lindsey and Daniel reflect on the strong foundation they’ve built. Through the highs and lows, they’ve been by each other’s side and always sought to support each other. They are committed to giving each other the type of love that is unconditional, selfless, and God led. They’re very excited to embark on a beautiful ride that this life has in store for them.
