It's pretty convenient when your soul mate has the same last name as you...we met early on in high school, but didn't become close friends until our AP psychology teacher, Mrs. Keune, sat the class alphabetically. On the first day of 11th grade, Taylor made Erin laugh so hard that she had to leave the classroom after she couldn't get it together. A two year relationship and four year break-up then followed, only for a few drinks at a DC bar crawl to bring these two back together. After both realizing, "Oh wait, I've been talking to my ex for hours...," Taylor went home and declared to his roommates, "I'm in love with my ex!" The rest, as they say, is history.
Erin was certain she couldn't be surprised. She even had the proposal narrowed down to two possible weekends (neither of which was correct). In reality, Taylor had had this planned for 3 months...he would tell her he had to work and couldn't get to her family's beach vacation until the middle of the week. He would get her mom to tell her they were taking a "Christmas card photo" on the beach and surprise her. He would have his whole family there, at a beach 8 hours away, waiting to surprise her. After so many things didn't go as planned (the weather, the parking, Erin not cooperating according to the timeline she knew nothing about), the surprise was pulled off seamlessly. Lots of tears and joy and disbelief. Best day of our lives so far.
