Rahul and Erin’s story is, in many ways, a tale of fate and perfect timing. Rahul grew up in India, moved to the U.S. for grad school, and eventually landed in Massachusetts for work. Erin, a lifelong Massachusetts native, briefly escaped to California before realizing that New England (and seasons) had her heart. Though they lived very different lives, their choices and circumstances lead them to both be single in the same place at the same time - and using the same dating app. But there’s one more reason that their meeting was so miraculous. Rahul and Erin are only the same age from his birthday in October until her birthday in January. Rahul’s Hinge settings showed potential matches his age and younger. Erin’s showed potential matches her age and older. This meant that they could appear on each other’s Hinge only from October to January. So, in October of 2021, shortly after Rahul’s birthday, the stars aligned… and so did their profiles. Erin was the first to swipe right, immediately drawn to Rahul’s giant smile captured mid-jump in front of the Swiss Alps. He looked fun, adventurous, and like someone who would say “yes” to life—and probably to spontaneous trips. Rahul soon saw Erin’s profile and was especially taken by a photo of her in Washington, DC, her sweet smile paired with her tattoos that hinted at creativity and confidence. A picture with her mom sealed the deal, giving Rahul a sense of Erin’s warmth, kindness, and love for family. He swiped right too, and just like that, they matched. They chatted for a bit on Hinge before meeting for their first date at a coffee shop in November. That “quick coffee” turned into a four-hour conversation, long after the cups were empty. They skipped past small talk and dove straight into meaningful conversations about life, values, and the people they loved most. Eventually, they moved in together, and Rahul became co-parent to Erin’s two chubby and adorable cats, Momo and Appa. While life together was mostly steady and joyful, they both supported each other through some of the most difficult times they’ve each had to go through. After a few years of sharing in the highs and helping each other through the lows, they knew they wanted forever together. So, in August of 2025, while surrounded by the breathtaking beauty of the Rocky Mountains, Rahul asked Erin to marry him. It was the perfect setting, combining their shared love of nature and travel. Erin said yes without hesitation. That November, on the four-year anniversary of the day they first met, Rahul and Erin were civilly married—choosing to honor the moment that started it all.

Now, Rahul and Erin are so excited to celebrate their wedding on Block Island, a place that holds deep meaning for Erin and her family, who have spent summers there for her entire life. Block Island is home in the truest sense—and now, Rahul and Erin can build their own memories and traditions in a place already full of love, and make it the beginning of their next great adventure together.
