Getting to Santa Barbara

Hotel

The Eagle Inn

232 Natoma Avenue, Santa Barbara, CA 93101
 (805) 965-3586

We have arranged a hotel block at the tranquil and charming Eagle Inn. This location is a 5 minute walk to West Beach and a 5-10 minute drive from most else in the city. We have blocked most of the rooms and casitas, so please go to their website and see if anything suits you! Note: On their website, our wedding weekend will show no availability and that is because we saved it! Please call them at the number listed and let them know you're with the "Smith-Gauvin" party to book your room.

Flight

Flying into SBA

Flying into SBA lands you about a 10 minute Uber ride into downtown with the added cost of flying directly there and added benefit of avoiding a train or car from LA.

Flight

Flying into BUR

If LAX is hell, Burbank is heaven. It is small, quiet and orderly. Flying into BUR is generally a bit more expensive than LAX, but here are the benefits: - Easier to get in and out of (TSA, traffic, etc.) - An Amtrak train to SB goes up from BUR airport directly - Because Burbank is on the north side of the city, you avoid traffic on the way up - BUR to SB drive takes about 1.5 hours

Train

Burbank Airport to Santa Barbara

The Pacific Surfliner Amtrak is a great option for anyone flying into Burbank not wanting to rent a car! Santa Barbara is walkable and Ubers abound. The train drops you off in the middle of Downtown SB off State Street where there are many hotel options. There are about ten trains that go daily from the BUR airport. The ride is a little over 2 hours and usually about $30 each way.

Flight

Flying into LAX

Flying into LAX can be the cheapest from various cities and often has more nonstop routes. These are the main benefits. The negatives are that this airport is busy and will take longer to scoot up to Santa Barbara from compared to SBA or BUR. If you do want to fly into LAX, here are some tips. Plan on about a 2-3 hour drive to Santa Barbara based on traffic and consider arranging your drive up to be around 11am after morning traffic or after 7pm when traffic has died down.

Travel Note

Bike Rentals

Santa Barbara has an ebike rental system called Bcycle that is used often to get around downtown. Check this out as an option if you plan to stay in downtown, as it's $30 for the whole time you're there or $8 per use. Download their app to see what the deal is and where the kiosks are in relation to where you're staying.

House Or Rental

Airbnb and VRBO

While we have listed our blocked hotel, you are oh so welcome to find a house that will be a good fit! Going the Airbnb/ VRBO route can make housing over the weekend more affordable for a family or group.
