Travel

Why Manitoulin? Manitoulin is more than just a beautiful location to us, it’s where Erin grew up. Having spent every summer on Lake Kagawong, the family cottage is her version of a childhood home. It has been a long-time dream to get married on this island, and we’re excited to finally share this special place with all of you. Below are a few travel options depending on where you’re coming from, and some places to consider staying at. There are many different options for cottage rentals and stays, so please reach out for personalized suggestions and set ups!

Flight

Vancouver to Toronto

For Guests Traveling from Vancouver (YVR) Option 1: Fly to Toronto + Ferry to Manitoulin - Fly from Vancouver (YVR) to Toronto (YYZ) - Drive from Toronto to Tobermory (~4-5 hours) - Take the ferry from Tobermory to South Baymouth on Manitoulin Island (~2 hours)

Flight

Vancouver to Sudbury

Fly from Vancouver (YVR) to Sudbury (YSB) - Most flights connect through Toronto. Drive from Sudbury to Manitoulin Island (~2.5 hours) The drive crosses the Little Current swing bridge, which connects the island to mainland Ontario. This option avoids the ferry and is usually the quickest way to reach the island but flights might be more pricey.

Travel Note

Toronto/London --> Manitoulin via Ferry

Drive + Ferry - Drive from Toronto/London to Tobermory (~3.5 hours from either) - Take the Chi-Cheemaun car ferry to South Baymouth (~2 hours). This is a very scenic route and a fun way to arrive on the island.

Travel Note

Toronto/London --> Manitoulin via Swing Bridge

Drive Through Sudbury and take the Swing Bridge Toronto → Manitoulin (~ 6 hours) London → Manitoulin (~7.5 hours) If you want to avoid the ferry, you can also drive north through Ontario and cross onto Manitoulin via the Little Current swing bridge.

Hotel

Freds Camp (Cottages)

Freds Camp Road

For friends who’d like to stay right on the lake, we’ve reserved several cottages at Fred’s Camp, a small rustic cottage property nearby. The cottages sleep 2–8 people, making it a great option for groups of friends who want to stay together and enjoy the full lake weekend experience. The camp has a relaxed, classic cottage feel with beautiful waterfront access, docks, and plenty of space to hang out. It’s a fun way to stay close to other guests and make the most of the weekend on the lake. If you’re interested in staying at Fred’s Camp, please let us know and we can help coordinate cottage assignments.
