Our Story - Erin's Version

We first met several years ago at a group dinner at The Bier Garden in Olde Towne Portsmouth. I was there meeting someone else but George knew when he saw me that he wanted to get to know me more. That evening went well until I tried to help my niece, Rona, win a race against her sister, Ceilidh, and ended up falling in the middle of the sidewalk on High Street. We've have been laughing together almost ever since. The road to us becoming a couple wasn't an easy one. I had to go through one of the most difficult chapters of my life to get to where I am now, but he was with me every step of the way. When we finally made it official it was as easy as breathing and made me feel so safe and cherished. We have an understanding of one another that is unlike anything I have ever experienced, and I can truly say without a doubt that he is my person. He is who I want to share my day with and the person I reach for when it feels like life if spinning out of control. We love each other even when things aren't so pretty. When tempers are short (usually mine) and brains are scattered we somehow always find our way back to one another with laughter and a gentle reminder that it is okay to have bad days. When George proposed on our 2nd anniversary in Williamsburg it was the easiest yes. We are excited for this next chapter in our lives and are so ready for all of the adventures headed our way!

Our Story - George's Version

The first time we met dating or even settling down wasn't even on my radar. I was fully expecting to get a few drinks and enjoy the company of some close friends. When Erin showed up, my first thought was about the Patriots' hoodie she was wearing. Being a Falcons fan, you can only imagine what was going through my head. Thankfully she didn't rub the Superbowl fiasco in my face too much and I found myself more interested in getting to know her even though she was not available at the time. As the night progressed we had more and more fun, several jokes were made that night that will forever send us into a fit of giggles. There were plenty of other times had where my interest grew. When finally we found ourselves both single and we had expressed a mutual interest in getting together to catch up. We met at Wasserhund for our first date. We ended up closing the place out and she had made it most of the way onto the interstate before she finally got my message to turn her headlights on. The next week we started at Games Workshop and finished the evening once more at Wasserhund. We did this for at least a month before we finally embraced what we were both feeling and haven't looked back since. We've had our bumps, same as any couple, but even on our worst days she is my grounding force and I like to think I do the same for her. She has brought me out of my shell and helped me to drop the shields I had put up around my heart and only built up more over the years before we had gotten together. Our second trip to see her family in New Hampshire, as we were sitting in Adirondack chairs on the top of Mt. Washington with ice as far as the eye could see (not very far, I might add) the feeling was cemented that Erin was the one. I planned a very special weekend in Williamsburg for our anniversary, had the ring ready and an idea of how I wanted it to go down. The rest, as they say, is History.
