Things To Do

Below are several attractions you can check out in Oxford! We have also listed some of our favourite food spots below: Chesters Arms $$ - the best steak platters in Oxford and a date night favourite of ours! Slightly outside the city centre, but well worth the short 5-10 minute taxi ride... White Rabbit $ - a cosy city centre pub with fantastic pizza! Covered Market $ - great lunch spot with lots of options (see below) Turf Tavern $$ - a classic Oxford pub, dating back to 1381 (this is proper history for those Americans who think that history began in 1776!). It is also where Bill Clinton supposedly 'did not inhale' during his MBA... No 1 Ship Street $$$ - for those looking to go all out, this award-winning restaurant serving modern British cuisine is worth considering! Erin and her family once had a meal here with Princess Beatrice of the royal family at the next table.
Bodleian Library and Radcliffe Camera

Bodleian Library and Radcliffe Camera

Broad Street, England OX1 3BG, United Kingdom

Visit these beautiful libraries in Oxford City Centre. You can choose to get a tour of the Bodlein or simply marvel at it's architecture from the outside! The large Radcliffe camera, a favourite library among students, lies right next door.

Covered Market

Covered Market

Market Street, Oxford, England OX1 3DZ, United Kingdom

Explore Oxford's famous covered market - filled with wonderful food, sweets and souvenirs. You can find everything in here from quality pies, delicious Thai food (Sasi's thai - one of Eric's personal favourites!) or stacked sandwiches. There's also some knick-knack stores if you're looking for gifts to take home.

Oxford Punting

Oxford Punting

Magdalen Bridge Boathouse, High Street, Oxford, England OX1 4AU, United Kingdom

Punting is a favourite summer-time activity of all Oxford students! It involves standing up on the back of a wooden boat, and using a long metal pole to propel yourself through the water. This is a beautiful way to see a number of the Oxford colleges and the surrounding scenery. Don't back your balance? Fear not! You can pre-book a guided tour on a punt, and just sit down and relax! We would recommend pre-booking this activity to avoid a long wait, but you can show up and queue on the day.

Oxford Colleges

Oxford Colleges

Walk around and visit some of the Oxford Colleges! See the link for details on which ones are free/charge, and opening times. Some famous ones to check out include Christchurch (the site of many Harry Potter film shots!), Magdalen (where CS Lewis and Tolkien would go on walks together), and Oriel and Exeter (where Erin and Eric studied!)

Blenheim Palace

Blenheim Palace

England OX20 1PS, United Kingdom

Blenheim Palace is a Baroque masterpiece and UNESCO World Heritage site in Oxfordshire, known as the birthplace of Sir Winston Churchill and the home of the Duke of Marlborough. Visitors can explore the opulent State Rooms, the Churchill Exhibition, the 2,000-acre park and various formal gardens. Buses run to Woodstock (the town where Blenheim is located!) from central Oxford for easy access to the palace on foot. We'd recommend you also explore Woodstock while you're there, which is a beautiful Cotswold village with some lovely pubs!

Museums

Museums

If you fancy a visit to a museum, we would recommend either the Ashmolean or the Oxford Natural History museums. Both are located in central Oxford and and have no entrance fee!
