This is the iconic Saugatuck beach and genuinely one of our favorites. Huge dunes, soft sand, and amazing sunsets. We LOVE the beaches of Lake Michigan & promise you will too! There are several more across the coast in nearby Holland & South Haven.
We often go here to play games when we are in town. They played a special role in guiding Elizabeth to the Saugatuck gazebo for Erin to propose!
Retro Boat Rental thru the Old Boat House offers a fun variety of ways to cruise along the water: cute vintage style boats, donut boats, duffy boats, and pontoons. Other rental spots also have jet skis, kayaks, paddleboards, & party boat experiences.
Handmade art, stationery, prints, & cozy home decor. Definitely recommend a morning or afternoon to check out all the boutique shops, art galleries, cafes, ice cream spots, cocktail bars, and restaurants with outdoor patios in downtown Saugatuck. Pop lock & drop, shop, & drink!!
How could you not?! Saugatuck Dune Rides is an open air adventure through towering sand dunes overlooking Lake Michigan. A great way to combine beautiful scenery, local history, and a little bit of thrill as the dune schooners climb sandy hills and cruise thru winding trails. Send us videos and pics of you on it!!
Mid August is the perfect time to experience West Michigan’s farm country. The Saugatuck and Fennville area is known for blueberry farms, orchards, vineyards, & flower fields. Visit one of the nearby farms for picking blueberries, peaches, raspberries, blackberries, sunflowers, wildflowers, & lavender that will all be in season.
For our granola friends, vegetarian friends. Mount Baldhead is a 302 step climb for a great view that overlooks the Kalamazoo River, downtown Saugatuck, and Lake Michigan, making it a perfect spot for photos, a morning walk, or catching a sunset. Adventurous guests can also continue down the dune trail toward Oval Beach.
One of the most iconic stops in the area!! The Root Beer Barrel is a giant roadside stand that has been serving summer treats since the 1950s. It is the BEST stop for classic root beer floats, hot dogs, burgers, and ice cream after a day on the water. We always love popping by here.
The Saugatuck Chain Ferry is one of the last hand-cranked ferries in the country and has been shuttling people across the Kalamazoo River since 1838. It's quirky, it's historic, it's surprisingly fun, and it saves you from taking the long way around to Oval Beach.
