What airport should I fly into?
Answer
There are several airport options for getting to Saugatuck depending on your preferred level of travel chaos. This is entirely a choose your own adventure exploratory trip. Grand Rapids (GRR) is the closest and easiest, South Bend (SBN) is potentially cheapest with our good ole friend Miss Breeze Airways, and Chicago gives you the best 2 for 1 destination package. Can I bring a plus one?
Answer
Due to capacity, we are only able to accommodate the guests specifically listed on each invitation. If a plus one has been reserved for you, it will be clearly indicated on your invitation and RSVP. Thank you for understanding and for giving grace to Erin choosing law school during this season of our lives. 💛

Are children invited?
Answer
Yes! Children are welcome. While they unfortunately will not be included in the open bar package, our niece Juniper has already volunteered herself as Director of Dance Floor Operations and plans to keep the party going well past her bedtime. We cannot guarantee supervision, but we can guarantee at least one tiny person tearing up the dance floor.

Where Should I Stay?

A friendly heads up: Summer in Saugatuck is peak season and lodging fills up surprisingly early. We recommend booking accommodations as soon as you're able, especially if you're hoping to stay downtown or near the water! We promise we're not trying to be dramatic, but summer lodging around here disappears very fast. Wedding Headquarters 🏖️ Most wedding events will take place in and around Saugatuck. Guests looking for more budget friendly accommodations may also want to consider staying in nearby Holland, which offers a larger selection of hotels and often better rates. Holland is approximately a 15–20 minute drive from our venue and wedding activities, making it an easy and convenient option while still being close to all the fun. Here are some overall recommended options: Option 1: Vacation Rentals -For families, groups, and anyone turning this into a Michigan vacation week, Airbnb and VRBO are often the best option. Popular areas include Saugatuck, Douglas, Oval Beach area, Lake Michigan cottages, & nearby Holland (20 minutes) & Fennville (10 minutes) Option 2: Hotels & Inns in Saugatuck -The Belvedere Inn, Best Western Plaza Hotel Saugatuck, Starlite Resort, & Blue Star Motel Option 3: Hotels in Holland -If lodging in Saugatuck becomes limited, Holland is a fantastic option and only about 15- 20 minutes away. You'll find more hotel options, lower prices, & easy access to wedding events. The following are only 15 min from our wedding venue, but there are many more options: AmericInn by Wyndham, Baymont by Wyndham, & Residence Inn by Marriott in Holland.

Do I need to rent a car? How do we get around Saugatuck?
Answer
Maybe, depending on how long you are staying and how much exploring you plan to do! Saugatuck is a small town where most things are only a short drive away. Our ceremony and reception venues are about 5 minutes apart by car. We are working on shuttle options... One of our favorite parts of Saugatuck is the local ride system called Interurban. Rides are $1 per person and it is a super easy way to get around town without worrying about parking. To use it: Download the Interurban Saugatuck app, Request a ride through the app, & a driver will pick you up and take you around the Saugatuck and Douglas area.It is great for getting to downtown restaurants, shops, beaches, bars, and wedding events. During busy summer weekends there can occasionally be a wait, so we recommend giving yourself a little extra time before events. If you want to explore nearby towns, wineries, dune rides, blueberry farms, or spend several extra days along the lakeshore, having a car would definitely be helpful!

Are there activities for guests staying several days?

Yes definitely! Text us when you are planning to arrive! We are still finalizing some details, but there will absolutely be opportunities for beach time, mingling, family fun, drinks, sunsets, and soaking in as much summer lake town magic as possible. ☀️ We intentionally chose Saugatuck because it is a place where people can slow down, spend real time together, and make a whole weekend out of the celebration.

When should I RSVP by?

Now... jk. Please RSVP by the end of May 2027 if possible! As two out of town brides planning a "destination" wedding while Erin is in law school, we are currently operating on caffeine & google docs. We love you all dearly, but a late RSVP will give one of us a panic attack potentially.

What should I expect from Saugatuck weather & what do I pack?
Answer
August in West Michigan is usually beautiful. Think sunny beach days, warm afternoons, and cooler evenings near the water. Beach clothes, sunglasses, layers for cooler evenings, and plenty of outfit options for all your various lakeshore identities throughout the weekend. Erin strongly encourages sundresses, matching sets, and dramatic hats. Lizzie remains deeply committed to denim overalls. Wear bright colors to the wedding please!! We also recommend bringing multiple outfit changes because between beach days, humidity, dancing, and the very real possibility of spilling a margarita on yourself by 6:14pm, wardrobe resilience is crucial. Linen. Denim. Sandals. Bright dresses and dress shirts! Come LOUD come proud! Bring at least one pair of shoes from Walmart please. We are not fancy, please do not bring too many name brand fits.

Is Saugatuck walkable?
Answer
Downtown Saugatuck and Douglas are very walkable once you are there. However, many beaches, rentals, wineries, and wedding venues require short drives or rides. Thankfully the town is tiny, charming, and impossible to be stuck in traffic for more than approximately 11 minutes.

Any advice for East Coast guests?
Answer
Yes. Michigan people WILL insist that “the lake” looks exactly like the ocean & is better than the ocean, and you are expected to politely agree. Miky please do not fight us on this.

What if my name is Rachel & Nathan and I’m traveling internationally?
Answer
Thank you for quite literally crossing oceans for us. Coming from China feels excessive but appropriate and appreciated. Since you're flying internationally, you should probs just commit to the bit and stay for 1-2 weeks. You already crossed the Pacific Ocean. What is one more beach town? Feel free to text me about flights or timing. I can probably pick you up from Chicago as repayment for all the years I drove Rachel crazy.
