I actually came back to Iowa from doing a travel nurse assignment in Seattle, Washington. I wasn’t really planning on staying in Iowa for a very long time. Cory and I were both on Bumble and somehow matched - even though our distance was not within range. We messaged one another for a few weeks, then Cory asked me on a date - which I actually cancelled (I don’t know what I was thinking). Surprisingly, Cory still wanted to go on a date for another time. When he relocated to Dubuque for work, we met for our first date. Cory was so sweet and such a southern gentleman that our one evening date turned into a 4 day date! I knew after the first date that I was going to marry that man! 🤍
Because of Cory and l were both traveling for our careers, we discussed future plans and marriage pretty early on in our relationship. After being together for a few months, I made the decision to go to California for travel assignment. Cory was so supportive of me going for 10 weeks, but before I left, we met with a jeweler (shout out to Chester) and designed an engagement ring, for whenever he was ready to propose. While I was in California, Cory flew out to visit often, that weekend we decided to go for a hike at Joshua Tree - where I thought he was going to propose because he was acting funny. The next day, we had a day date in San Diego and did a bunch of tourist things around the city, that evening we watched the sunset at Sunset Cliffs, where Cory got down on one knee and asked me to be his wife!
