Our Story

Erin and Christopher have been long time friends. They first met in New Mexico in 2004, when Erin came on a road trip with Tatiana to her homeland of enchantment. Their friendship grew over the years, slowly, but steadily in the bursts of the big and small moments of life - cabin trips, baby showers, births and dusty charcoal piles on the playa. It wasn't until 2013, almost a decade later, that their loving friendship ignited into a bigger flame. That summer their paths crossed serendipitously at a gathering on the 4th of July at Tatiana's place in Placitas. Children danced with sparklers under a sandia sunset, but that wasn't all that sparked. Drawn to each other by some other worldly pull they danced and giggled the night away, smitten by a friendship forming between their best selves. Shortly after, Erin returned to Arizona for work, leaving Chris back to his life in Albuquerque. The two exchanged handcrafted letters, bearing not their love for each other, but their simple and honest selves. This handcraft was kindling, which they threw into the fire when their eyes met again, a month or so later in Northern Arizona. Both agree the best place to fall in love is amidst wild places where red rocks or sequoias tower above you and rivers cut canyons deep into the heart of the earth. This, of course, is what we did. The rest is history in the making! Which is why we want to marry each other in a place that is profoundly precious to us, a place where we have spent much time appreciating the wild love in our hearts - for each other, our family and the land. Of course, we couldn't even consider getting married without an epic campout too! We are beyond humble and grateful to Bob and Sandy Poling for not only sharing the home and hearth of their cabin in Jemez with us over the years but to also offer it as a place for us to experience the deeply sacred ritual of union. And we are just thrilled to have the opportunity to share the magic of Jemez with you all too!
