Now a chapel for a Unitarian church, this venue was the place of Rabindranath Tagore’s first public lecture in the United States. Tagore visited the area twice while his son attended school at UIUC during early 1900's. Now, the Annual Tagore Festival in Champaign is celebrated here. Tagore was a very influential Bengali writer/thinker/poet.
Allerton has picturesque nature trails, formal gardens, and a historic mansion house (tours sometimes available if you call ahead). Erin excavated here at a prehistoric site with a class of students last summer. The site can be spotted from the blue trail. We won't tell you exactly where, but the archaeologists may be able to spot it :P.
In a tiny, tiny, tiny town. Nice roof top seating.
Yes...a real drive in...they do still exist!
