Matron of Honor
I’ve known Becca literally since the day she was born, and I’m lucky enough to call her my sister—and my best friend. Sure, she used to drive me up the wall when we were kids. I’m talking about the time my friends and I taped her to an office chair and pushed her down the step in the living room (oops, don’t tell Mom!). Despite all that, Becca was always there, sticking close and never giving up on me. By junior high, things really changed. We became inseparable, dancing together all through high school and bonding over our shared love of music and band. Those years brought us even closer and turned us into the best friends we are today. Even though we’re total opposites, we have so much in common. We both adore Julien and the Dink Fam (IYKYK), love going to concerts, and are always hunting for home organization tips (she still promises to teach me her tricks). Plus, we’re both homebodies at heart. There was no doubt in my mind about choosing Becca as my Matron of Honor. She’s always caring, supportive, and ready to lend an ear—even if she doesn’t get my cosplay obsession. I can count on her for honest advice and, let’s be real, she’s always up for a trip to Starbucks! While we’re a few hours apart now, Becca is still the best friend I never knew I needed.
Best Man
Tony and I are brothers from other mothers. Blood would not make us any closer that is the kind of, “Broship”, we have. We met in Fall of 2010 which was our freshmen year at Penn State Mont Alto. We ran into each other right before the first day of the semester. After that we’d find ourselves at the gym around the same times and hanging out with the same friend groups. The friendship just grew naturally and genuinely. There were a lot of times throughout college where you didn’t find us together doing something crazy. We’ve had crazy memories though like his and mine’s 21st, Jersey shore trips, and celebrating Tony’s dirty 30. But that’s not even scratching the surface of memories we’ve made. To tell you the honest truth, Tony fills the room with energy and adventure. Seriously, in a good way you might just have met him and your day or night is about to get so much better. Finally, I choose Tony to be my best man because he has been there for my highs and lows just as I have been there for his and I can only think of him being at Kayla and I’s wedding celebrating a high note as my best man.
Bridesmaid
I met Kayla Trapp when she joined the Pine Junction server staff. (Totally taught her everything she knows, by the way—LOL.) You know how some people just click right away? That was totally us, and before long, we were known as “Kayla-Squared” at work. Even after we left the Pine Junction gig and moved over to the Luminary Distilling bar and restaurant scene, Kayla and I stuck together. Now that she’s back in nursing full-time, we’re still besties. Kayla’s a big fan of reading, and luckily, she got me back into it too. She’s recently gotten into fantasy books, and I’m determined to get her and Becca to join me in some epic cosplay one day. She’s pretty crafty when she feels like it, loves Hawaii, and is definitely a warm-weather fan. I secretly envy her frequent Disney trips with her family. Kayla is an amazing friend and an even better mom. She’s always there to help and never fails to roll her eyes when I complain about things I’m working on or how I look. She’s super encouraging, and I don’t have to put on a happy face around her—I can just be myself. She was an obvious to include as a bridesmaid.
Groomsman
First things first. I’ve only known Sherman as well, Sherman, and so does everyone else. I’ve never ever called him Matt or Matthew. Sherman and I met while I was visiting friends at Penn State Altoona. I feel like everyone knew everyone at Altoona so I got to know Sherman through many different friend groups and next thing you know I saw him at tailgates, Altoona events and parties and BOOM, the rest is history with a lot of unforgettable memories. Sherman certainly keeps himself busy though like golfing, running in races, being an instructor for a university, and well being a drinking enthusiast. But, I’ve grown to appreciate and respect Sherman because he cares so much for his friends and family. If you need to seek help and guidance he is there for you. I chose him as part of my groomsmen because over the past several years our friendship has grown very close and I couldn’t not have him not help us have a great time come wedding time.
Bridesmaid
I first met Maddie at Luminary when I waited on her and her friends for prom. She thought I was cool, but let’s be real—I’m actually pretty awkward and not cool at all. LOL! We hit it off pretty quickly, even though I’m not entirely sure how it happened. We just have so many common interests that it just worked. Maddie is into all things related to the night sky—stars, the moon, you name it. She even has a telescope! (Why she isn’t best friends with Erik instead of me, who knows?) She’s also big on music and baking (even though she says she doesn’t like it, she’s great at it and does it all the time). She loves cats and is an avid rock collector. Madison is truly one of the most caring and dedicated friends you could ever ask for. I chose her to be part of my bridal party because she’s simply awesome and one of my favorite people. Plus, she has this quirky habit of spewing random facts about pretty much everything! She makes fun of my interests only in good humor, is always ready to help out, and can happily just hang out and do nothing with you. You won’t find a kinder person than Madison. It was a no brainer when I asked her to be one of my bridesmaids.
Groomsman
Rob and I have known each other since freshmen year of college and just like Tony, Rob and I met through friends at Penn State Mont Alto. We became much closer and hung out way more once we transferred to University Park. It was awesome how easy it was that Rob and I just clicked when we were around each other rather it was events, parties, or tailgates. We truly have this authentic friendship and I wouldn’t ask for anything better because it’s already there. Rob is just a kickass and fun person and it’s clear why he’s a groomsmen. Rob keeps himself busy when not working with also running at events, cooking very interesting meals, and is also a drinking enthusiast. I’ll tell you though, Rob has that down for almost anything mindset which has made our friendship so cool with the random and awesome adventures both in college and now post college. He truly makes the word friendship alive and well. Rob and I’s friendship have grown more and more with each year since college in great ways. I’m beyond glad and grateful he can be one of my groomsmen.
Ring Bearer
Oliver "Ollie" Lanning is the newest edition to the family and possibly the biggest ham of all of us! He loves taking photos of himself and his toys (just take a look at Becca's phone!) and his other obsessions change depending on the week, but he is usually found with at least one monster truck or Lightning McQueen. With his back up wiggle butt security we know he will do his best to get the rings down the isle safely... or at least we hope he won't treat the box like a monster truck!
Wiggle Butt Ring Security Leader
The best wiggle butt security in the world (even though he is a little jumpy sometimes, the cuteness makes up for it)! Best boy and stellar cuddle bug of the bride and groom. I mean, come on, look at that face...
