We met during our first year at William & Mary, technically at a freshman hall outing to see Captain America Civil War.
Rohan was invited through a mutual friend to a series of movie nights at Erika's dorm room during finals (with much better movies, including Leon the Professional and the first half of the third Lord of the Rings).
Erika, recognizing the nice guy who likes movies, decided to sit next to Rohan in French class the following semester, which is where we became friends.
We started dating on the day of Grand Illumination, Colonial Williamsburg’s annual Christmas fireworks show.
Our first date was to Mellow Mushroom after stealing away from W&M’s Yule Log ceremony.
We were both already interested in the same study abroad program even before becoming friends, and we both got in! We spent our junior year spring semester in Paris, France. We took 4 weeks of classes and then completed a twelve-week internship, Erika’s in agricultural policy and Rohan’s in software development. We went to all the museums, gardens, and monuments; ate a ton of bread, crepes, and chocolate; and drank a lot of cheap wine. We also spent a week in Italy between our classes and internship, stopping at Florence, Rome, Pompeii, and Palermo.
Rohan and Erika lived together for the first time in a two-bedroom apartment shared with Megan and Emily (bridesmaids), forging the unbreakable bond known as Cabell 205.
Rohan and Erika crossed the Crim Dell bridge together holding hands, along with the rest of their senior class, as they graduated college. Urban legend says this means they will be together forever. Long distance started, as Erika decided to stay at William & Mary for law school and Rohan got a consulting job in Washington DC.
Rohan, Erika, and Erika’s childhood cat, Diego, moved to Dover, Delaware because of Erika’s clerkship with a Family Court judge. During that year, they played countless games of pickleball, did not have a single friend under 50 years old, and spent weekends at the Delaware beaches. Most importantly, Rohan officially became a cat co-parent to Diego.
Rohan and Erika moved to Jersey City, Rohan transferring to Capital One’s New York office and Erika finding a policy and then legal job in Jersey.
Rohan and Erika adopted Zelda Tomer-Bosack, the most beautiful, friendly, and mischievous cat in the world.
Rohan and Erika took a walk across the Williamsburg Bridge in Brooklyn holding hands, a callback to the Crim Dell bridge in Williamsburg. At the end of the bridge is Domino Park, which has beautiful waterfront views of the bridge and skyline, and that’s where Rohan asked Erika to marry him. Deniz (groomswoman) was taking pictures in disguise, and gets credit for our save-the-date photo!
