It all began on May 18, 2018, in San Jose, California. Erika was still in college, and Omar had just entered post-grad life. They met at a college frat party— after that night, they parted ways for months. There were only occasional texts, maybe a like or a view on social media, but something always lingered between them. Two weeks later, they went on their first date—and have been writing their love story ever since. Almost 7 years have passed, filled with happiness, trials and tribulations, gains and losses. They’ve moved from state to state, traveled together, celebrated milestones, and adopted their first dog, Coco, as they built their little family. Through every season, they have grown in many ways—side by side. On December 1st, 2024, just before midnight, under the twinkling Christmas lights of the Capitol, Omar got down on one knee.
