His Version: Katie and Erich were interns at Disney Imagineering Research in California in 2009. Katie thought she was so cool because she just graduated with two degrees. Erich was a cool college undergrad. They worked in the same office and Katie had no other friends so she would come over to Erich's apartment to swim in the pool and watch Miyazaki films. They even took a trip to Morro Bay and ended kayaking alone on the bay together because Erich's roommate couldn't swim and was afraid to kayak. Katie went off to Yale and Erich back to Cambridge to finish his degree, and they kept in touch a bit. After many years with no contact, Erich somehow found out that Katie lived in Burbank again, and Erich in Pasadena. Erich felt bad because he figured Katie still needed some friends, so he reached out to get together and catch up. Katie was so excited to hang out with someone cool again, she couldn't stay away. Her Version: Erich first fell in love with Katie in the summer of 2009 when they were both interns at Disney Imagineering. She was the older, sophisticated college graduate and he the bright-eyed, green college freshman. They spent a summer working, hanging and collaborating together. But at the end of that summer, Erich went back to college without ever telling Katie how he felt. Fast forward to 2014, when Erich realized Katie had moved back to LA, where he now lived. Now that he had graduated college, grown up, and worked at the prestigious Jet Propulsion Lab, he felt he could finally tell Katie how he had been in love with her all these years. Erich invited Katie hiking, to museums, and to see the LA skyline from Griffith Park. And he convinced her that he was no longer the green freshman she first met.
