Things To Do

The Wedding Website of Mayra Vazquez and Eric Rosipal
Eric and I want to share this magical place with our dear friends and family. San Miguel is known for its Spanish Colonial architecture, art, pottery, and beautiful cobblestone streets. If you love photography, you will not be disappointed. The simplicity of these facades often function as a backdrop to showcase the beautiful doors and windows throughout the city. Adorned with the flowering vines of bougainvillea, potted plants, and baked goods, these windows are beautiful and inviting. Looking for a memorable restaurant for brunch or dinner? The choices are endless. Make sure and make reservations in advance at one of the many rooftop restaurants. Make sure to soak in the historic views of Mexico while enjoying some traditional Mexican food. If you are into art and/or shopping, this is your city to explore. We highly advise to bring comfortable sneakers as the cobblestone streets are challenging to navigate.

Amazing drinks, views, music, ambiance...just AH-mazing! Make sure to reserve in advance as this place books up fast! This rooftop is one of the best known and a must go to. There is no elevator access to the rooftop. The rooftop is 2-3 flights of narrow stairs but totally worth the slight "hike".

S/N Principal, San Miguel de Allende, Gto. 37700, Mexico

Make sure to visit the wonderful Catholic churches and chapels of San Miguel. There are two parishes, 16 churches, one Oratorio, four chapels and one sanctuary.

Mercado de Artesanías

Mercado de Artesanías

S/N Lucas Balderas, San Miguel de Allende, Gto. 37700, Mexico

You can google "mercado de artesanias in San Miguel de Allende" to get a view of what to expect. Unfortunately they do not offer a webpage but it's a must for those that want to take a souvenir back home. The Mercado de Artesanias (or Artisans Market) starts right behind San Miguel's main produce market and goes on for several long blocks with many stalls and shops along the way. You'll find all sorts of things like talavera, oilcloth, leather, clothing and beautiful table linens. There are definitely some kitschy souvenirs, but you can find some gems here, too. You could spend hours winding your way through the whole thing from start to finish.

Charco del Ingenio

Charco del Ingenio

S/N Paloma, San Miguel de Allende, Gto. 37720, Mexico

El Charco del Ingenio is a botanical garden and nature preserve just a few minutes from the historical city of San Miguel de Allende. The name comes from a spring-fed pool nestled in an impressive canyon. With great biodiversity, many different species of native plants and animals are in the canyon, the wetlands and the dry scrubland. El Charco hosts an extensive botanical collection made up of cacti and other succulent Mexican plants, many of which are rare, threatened or in danger of extinction. This is a place that was sanctified as a Peace Zone by the Dalai Lama, where you can enjoy the Conservatory of Mexican Plants, scenic overlooks, historic sites, trails, Interactive Garden for Children, camping zone, cafeteria & gift shop, as well as different activities like guided tours, sweat-lodge, workshops, concerts, full moon ceremonies and more.

La Casa Dragones

La Casa Dragones

16 Recreo, San Miguel de Allende, Gto. 37700, Mexico

When visiting San Miguel de Allende, Mexico there’s no more unique and memorable experience than a private tour of La Casa Dragones. Visit the historic 17th century stables of the Dragones cavalry, now transformed into an elegant private home. This stunning 4-bedroom, 4-bath home is centrally located in the heart of San Miguel de Allende, close to the city’s finest restaurants, art galleries and cultural attractions. When visiting the house, you will also discover the innovative process and handcrafted techniques that result in Casa Dragones’ uniquely smooth sipping tequilas. Casa Dragones is a small batch tequila producer with a passion for crafting extraordinary tequilas, one bottle at a time. Reservations to this are highly recommended.

San Miguel Vineyard

San Miguel Vineyard

Comonfort, Gto. 38206, Mexico

Unfortunately their wine is not exported which makes this an even more unique experience. "Viñedo San Miguel is located in the heart of Guanajuato, over the highway Comonfort-San Miguel de Allende. The region where it stands has been entitled as World Heritage and Best City in the World by Condé Nast Traveler and Best City in Latin America by Travel + Leisure." Eric and I have visited and fell in love w/ the entire experience. It's a MUST go to for wine lovers.

Vinícola Toyan

Vinícola Toyan

Querétaro, San Miguel de Allende, Gto. 37734, Mexico

This recommendation is mainly b/c of the vineyard tour and wine tasting in their underground cave experience and not so much the wine (to my liking). "Vineyard Toyan is located at 10 minutes from down town of San Miguel de Allende. Surrounded by fruit trees and fruitful fields where they elaborated organic wines with a unique identity and of big personality. Among the attractions of this house are the vineyards and the spectacular cave 14 meters underground. We also invite you to deep in our wine knowledge or share the wine tasting with different wine strains and try some organics"
