Flight
Apps like Hopper, and websites like Kayak, Priceline, and Airfare Watchdog help you find the best rates for flights! *yes, the flight from Minnesota is somewhat brutal. trust us - it's worth it *
House Or Rental
We love AirBnb for traveling. You have access to your own kitchen, which can save you a ton of money by cooking at home.
House Or Rental
VRBO is another good resource for finding vacation rentals. A bit more formal (and sometimes more luxury) than AirBnb, we have had great success with VRBO in the past.

Rental Car
A rental car is nearly a necessity when visiting Hawai'i. There is very little public transportation, so unless you like the idea of being stuck at your hotel, a rental car is the way to go. *Word of wisdom* - Not all of Hawai'i's roads are perfectly paved. To avoid a sticky situation that Laura and her mom encountered in Maui, be sure that your rental car has a spare tire before you drive it off the lot. If interested in true off-roading, 4WD is key.
