Things To Do

Architecture Foundation Boat Tour

112 E Wacker Drive, Chicago, IL

The Architecture Boat Tour is not to be missed!! A favorite in the city, we have been on this tour many times. Note that there is a AAA discount for members. Fun fact: Eric's dad used to give these tours!

The "I've Never Been to Chicago!" Itinerary

201 E Randolph St, Chicago, IL 60602

If you've never been to Chicago, you're in for a treat! We recommend starting at The Bean (aka. the Cloud Gate) downtown. If you get thirsty, across the street is a great rooftop bar called Cindy's (inside the Chicago Athletic Association Building). Next, head north on Michigan Ave. Stop for some gorgeous views of the Chicago River, and maybe head down the stairs for a stroll along the river walk. After crossing over the river, walk along the Magnificent Mile -- if you get hungry, we recommend the Purple Pig -- until you reach the Hancock Building. Skip the observatory tours, and instead head up to the Signature Lounge on the 95th floor -- much cheaper than the observatory, and has cocktails! Best view is from the women's restroom -- sorry guys. After that, keep heading north and walk through Lincoln Park. Within the park is even a free zoo!

Kingston Mines

2543 N Halsted St, Chicago, IL 60614

Open 7pm-4am every night of the year, Kingston Mines is our favorite spot to hear live Chicago Blues music. We will most likely end up here after the wedding...

Field Museum

1400 South Lake Shore Drive, Chicago, IL 60605
, (312) 922-9410

The Field Museum is home to Sue, the most complete fossil set of a T-rex ever excavated. The Field also has an excellent ancient Egypt exhibit!

The Art Institute of Chicago

111 South Michigan Avenue, Chicago, IL 60603
, (312) 443-3600

The Art Institute is home to many works featured in any art history course. Its also a short walk from the bean and Cindy's Rooftop Bar!

Museum of Science & Industry

Chicago, IL 60637

The Museum of Science and Industry is mere blocks from our first home together. While there, we recommend going for a walk around Promontory Point along the lake shore trail. Its a favorite spot for UChicago students to walk, picnic, swim, and hangout. If you're hungry, don't miss 14 Parish!

Adler Planetarium

1300 South Lake Shore Drive, Chicago, IL 60605
, (312) 922-7827

Our favorite view of the city is the view from Adler! Highly recommend stopping by.

Pequod's Pizza

2207 North Clybourn Avenue, Chicago, IL 60614
, (773) 327-1512

Best deep dish pizza in Chicago!

Wrigley Field/Cub's Game

1060 West Addison Street, Chicago, IL 60613

There is a home game for the Cub's on September 4!

Food -- West Randolph Street

West Randolph Street, Chicago, IL

Randolph Street is the best place for good eats and bougie bars in the city! Our favorites include Girl and the Goat, Green Street Meats, Bar Sienna, Formento's, Duck Duck Goat (on Fulton Market), the Publican (on Fulton Market)....the list goes on.

The Duck Inn

2701 South Eleanor Street, Chicago, IL 60608
, (312) 724-8811

Eric's favorite restaurant in Chicago (Jill loves it too)

Brunch

In all likeliness, we won't be in any shape to join folks for brunch the day after the wedding but we want to provide options anyway. Our favorites are: the Publican, Parlor Pizza (extensive bloody mary bar), Little Goat Diner, the Duck Inn, Dusek's, Apolonia, Big Jones. And apparently there's a new spot in our old neck-of-the-woods called Roux...

Navy Pier Fireworks

600 East Grand Avenue, Chicago, IL 60611

Navy Pier has fireworks Wednesday at 9pm and Saturday at 10pm. The Shedd Aquarium or Adler Planetarium are great locations to watch the fireworks from!

For all the days along the way
