Question

ABOUT THE ALTA LODGE:

Answer

The town of Alta is remotely located in Little Cottonwood Canyon southeast of Salt Lake City with a population of 216 people, making it the perfect destination to unplug and relax with friends and family for the weekend. Once arriving at the lodge, we don't anticipate that you'll need a rental car unless you are planning to explore areas outside of the town of Alta or are anticipating leaving the lodge for personal shopping/errands. Please note the closet grocery store and shops are about a 25-minute drive down the canyon. For guests staying at the Alta Lodge, Friday dinner, and Saturday and Sunday breakfast, will be hosted. Saturday lunches are available "to-go", which can be ordered at the front desk 11am-2pm. There are many hiking trails within Little Cottonwood Canyon, many of which are accessible without a vehicle.

Question

IS TRANSPORTATION PROVIDED TO AND FROM THE AIRPORT?

Answer

Unfortunately, we aren't able to provide transportation to/from the airport. There is plenty of parking at the Alta Lodge if you choose to rent a car. The Alta Lodge also offers an airport shuttle service you may book in advance. It takes about 40 minutes to get from the SLC airport to the Lodge.

Question

WHAT IS THE DRESS CODE FOR WEDDING EVENTS?

Answer

Wedding events will be festive/garden party (i.e., think sundresses, floral prints, light-colored suits...use your best judgment and most importantly, be comfortable!) The temperature in mid-July in Alta, on average, is a high of 75 and a low of 50 degrees. Pack a jacket for the evenings!

Question

Is it an outdoor wedding?

Answer

The ceremony and reception will be outdoors, weather permitting.

Question

HOW TO PACK FOR MOUNTAIN WEATHER:

Answer

Pack versatile layers! The temperature in the mountains can range widely and weather can change quickly. It doesn't rain often in the summer but it's always smart to pack a rain jacket just in case. Bring chapstick and sunscreen because the sun is intense and drying. Bring hiking things (comfy sneakers, small backpack, hat, refillable water bottle, etc.) if you're planning on going for a hike.

Question

DO YOU HAVE HOTEL RECOMMENDATIONS?

Answer

We strongly recommend booking your room at the Alta Lodge for the nights of Friday, July 19 and Saturday, July 20, which is where all wedding events will take place. The entire lodge is reserved Friday and Saturday nights for Ehrlich-Bishop wedding guests only. There are 44 rooms available in the lodge Friday & Saturday; first come, first serve. You may reserve a room by calling 800-707-2582 or visiting https://reservations.altalodge.com/irmng/#/search?g=ehrlich. If you need a code, use "Ehrlich." If you are planning to come early and/or stay late, there are a number of rooms available for Thursday and Sunday nights as well.

Question

Will there be alcohol?

Answer

Of course! There will be an open bar for wine, beer & standard liquor. Be weary of drinking at altitude! We will be at 8,000 ft ;)

Question

Will I need an I.D. at the bar?

Answer

Yes, please make sure to have a valid form of identification in order to get a drink from the bar.

Question

Is there anything else I should know?

Answer

Please remember Alta, UT is 8,530 ft above sea level. Don't forget sunscreen and stay hydrated as the altitude could cause altitude sickness.
