We actually first met at the Roxborough dog park! We met in January 2016 during a snowstorm. Eric had been there ALL day with his 7 month old Siberian Husky puppy Arra. He could not get her to leave as she was fully enjoying her first snow. Jack, a 9 month old Husky and Rottweiler mix who I rescued a few weeks ago, was just as excited about his first snow! We were at Pretzel Park, another much smaller dog park closer to where I lived. But I wanted Jack to have a larger area to run around, and when I Googled nearby dog parks I found the Roxborough dog park. So Jack and I trekked the half mile walk all the way up Shurs Lane (for those that know Shurs I'm sure you can appreciate the dedication to walk up that hill in a snowstorm). When I finally arrived I was amazed at how much room there was for Jack to run around. And to my surprise, there was still a dog inside the park! It was pretty late, at least 10:00pm so I was not expecting anyone to be inside the park. But there they were, Eric was all bundled up in his snow pants and thick Parka jacket with the fur almost completely shielding his face. And Arra was truly in her element, prancing and pouncing among the mounds of white fluffy snow. Finally Jack had someone who could not only keep up, but also appreciate the cold weather and snow as much as him. They were inseparable! I'll never forget that feeling and that moment watching Jack and Arra play for the first time. I only had Jack for a few weeks, and he needed more socialization. I had to be careful and watch him closely with other dogs and people, but that was not the case with Arra and Eric. I guess you can say the rest is history. We started meeting up at the dog park frequently, and Jack and Arra would go nuts when they saw each other and would not play with any other dogs. Then exactly a year later from when we first met Eric proposed at the dog park! The Roxborough Dog Park is a very special place to both of us, and we are excited to have you join us!
