Travel

Although our wedding venue is located in the Miracle Mile area of Los Angeles, we've decided to accommodate our traveling guests in Downtown Los Angeles toward the east side of the city. This is where we spend most of our time together in LA, and where our other wedding weekend events will take place. Below you'll find more information about getting to Los Angeles, our hotel room block, and other options for accommodations in the area.

Hotel

Conrad Los Angeles

100 South Grand Avenue, Los Angeles, CA 90012

We have secured a room block with a discounted rate at The Conrad Hotel for our traveling guests (a Hilton Hotels property) from Friday, October 9th-Sunday, October 11th. If you wish to come a few days early or stay a few days later, you can apply our discounted rate to your stay. TO BOOK: If you’re wishing to book a room at the hotel after receiving your invitation, please email LAXAV.GR@CONRADHOTELS.COM (Attention: Richie Nogan) to let the events team know that you would like to reserve a room in the Smithwick/Farrell room block. The hotel will honor the group rate pending availability (our initial block has filled). If you have any issues booking, let us know! Designed by legendary Postmodern architect Frank Gehry, The Conrad offers wonderful views of Gehry's neighboring Disney Concert Hall, the Hollywood Sign and Hollywood Hills, and the Los Angeles basin. Check out chef José Andrés' restaurant San Laurel in the lobby, Massilia on the ground floor for morning pastries and coffee, or hang out by the the largest hotel pool in DTLA with the kids! Shuttles will be provided from the hotel to our wedding venue on Saturday. More information about departure times will be provided closer to our wedding date.

Flight

Los Angeles International Airport (LAX)

LAX offers direct flights to Los Angeles from most major domestic cities including Memphis, where many of our guests will be traveling from. Located on the Westside of Los Angeles about 15 miles from The Conrad, it can take up to an hour to get from LAX to the hotel in Downtown LA during rush hour (7-10 AM and 4-7 PM), so plan accordingly! We recommend you take the LAX-It bus from the terminal to the airport's ride-share lot where you can easily call an Uber/Lyft or hop in a cab (Uber Black cars can be called directly to the terminal). If you plan to venture to various neighborhoods during your stay, all major rental car companies are available at LAX.

Flight

Hollywood Burbank Airport

The Hollywood Burbank Airport is also about 15 miles from our Downtown room block, but traffic on this route tends to be lighter, making it a more convenient option for guests flying in for our wedding. As a smaller regional airport, it's a great choice those for traveling with kids. While there are no direct flights to Burbank from Memphis, many major airlines including Delta and American Airlines offer options for connecting flights. All major rental car companies have locations at this airport as well.

Hotel

The Biltmore Los Angeles

506 South Grand Avenue, Los Angeles, CA 90071

If you're looking for something historic, The Biltmore is the spot for you! Designed in the Beaux-Arts style by architects Schultze and Weaver, The Biltmore opened in 1923 as LA's premiere luxury hotel and was the largest hotel west of Chicago at the time. It boasts a beautiful lobby and bar, and the high tea service at Rendezvous Court is always a fun time. For those traveling from Memphis, this is our version of The Peabody Hotel. Rooms are very affordable (averaging $175-$215/night), and guests are welcome to take the shuttle from The Conrad to our wedding, which is about fifteen minutes away by foot.

Hotel

Omni Los Angeles Hotel at California Plaza

251 South Olive Street, Los Angeles, CA 90012

The Omni Hotel is a great Downtown LA choice for those traveling on a budget (average room prices between $215-$250/night). The hotel is less than a ten minute walk from The Conrad, and those who choose to stay here are more than welcome to use the provided shuttle transportation from The Conrad to our wedding venue on Saturday.

Hotel

Downtown LA Proper Hotel

1100 South Broadway, Los Angeles, CA 90015

Hoping for something hip and artsy? We recommend the Downtown LA Proper Hotel (average room prices between $350-$400/night). With interiors by famed designer Kelly Wearstler, The Proper brings eclectic elegance to the historic Commercial Club of Southern California Building, designed in 1926 in the Italian Renaissance Revival style by master architects Alexander Curlett and Claud Beelman. The Proper is located on the other side of Downtown, so those wishing to take the shuttle to our wedding from The Conrad will need to plan accordingly.

Hotel

The Hoxton, Downtown LA

1060 South Broadway, Los Angeles, CA 90015

If you're looking for something boutique-y on a budget, The Hoxton is a great choice (average room prices are between $250-$300/night). Located directly across the street from The Proper Hotel on the other side of Downtown, The Hoxton is a chic adaptive reuse of the former Beaux-Arts style Los Angeles Railway Building, which originally opened in 1922. The hotel is popular with young travelers and has a great rooftop scene. Again, those who plan to take the shuttle to the wedding from The Conrad will need to plan accordingly.

Travel Note

Airbnb & Vrbo

Airbnb and Vrbo are also great options if you want to feel immersed in one of LA's many walkable neighborhoods. For those traveling with kids who'd like to opt for this route, we recommend the Larchmont Village neighborhood (within walking distance of Larchmont Avenue) or the Los Feliz neighborhood (within walking distance of Hillhurst or Vermont Avenues). Both are family-friendly areas with lots of coffee shops, cafes, bookstores, vintage shops, and other small businesses. Feel free to reach out to us if you're considering another neighborhood, and we'd be happy to offer recommendations!
