Things To Do

The Wedding Website of Eric Matthew Farrell and Brannon Marie Smithwick
Los Angeles is an expansive, sprawling city with so much to see and do...much more than can be accomplished in one short weekend! If possible, we highly recommend you take a few extra days to explore all that the city has to offer, and perhaps even venture to other nearby SoCal destinations like Long Beach, Orange County, San Diego, Palm Springs, or Santa Barbara. If you're just in town for the weekend, we recommend sticking close to walkable Downtown LA where our room block is located and other weekend events will take place. DO LA and This Ugly Beautiful City have put together some fantastic neighborhood guides, which we've linked below in order of proximity to the hotel. If you have questions about exploring other areas not listed here (like the West LA neighborhoods of Santa Monica, Venice Beach, Culver City, and Beverly Hills), check out the additional neighborhood guides on these websites, or reach out to us and we'd be happy to provide you with some recommendations!
Downtown Los Angeles Guide

Downtown Los Angeles Guide

Downtown Los Angeles is where our room block at The Conrad Hotel is located. It's one of LA's premiere hubs for arts, culture, and food. For those traveling with children, we recommend visiting the Museum of Contemporary Art (MOCA) or Broad Museum just steps away from the hotel (free with a reservation), grabbing a bite at Grand Central Market and riding the Angels Flight Railway funicular across the street, or getting lost in the Last Bookstore. The Little Tokyo neighborhood is also a short walk from our hotel block near the Arts District. It has amazing options for Japanese cuisine (Hama Sushi is a must), and the Japanese American National Museum is fantastic for history buffs. If you want to catch a game while in town, the Crypto.com Arena is just a five minute drive away.

DTLA Arts District Guide

DTLA Arts District Guide

Coffee shops, galleries, and breweries, oh my! The Arts District is a neighborhood within Downtown Los Angeles with a young and vibrant arts scene. Our Welcome Party will take place here on Friday night. Also a very kid-friendly neighborhood, the area is great for a stroll and an afternoon brew. We suggest Wurstküche, our favorite German sausage spot where we had our second date. Hauser and Wirth is another excellent free art gallery (we recommend dinner or brunch at Manuela inside), and there are plenty of small businesses and shops to explore along the way throughout the neighborhood.

Silver Lake & Echo Park Neighborhood Guide

Silver Lake & Echo Park Neighborhood Guide

Silver Lake and its adjacent Echo Park are two of our favorite neighborhoods in Los Angeles. Perfect for hip, adventurous couples, the area offers some of the city's best bars, restaurants, and shopping. Walk along Sunset Junction in Silver Lake and grab a pastry at Tartine to fuel up before braving the Silver Lake stairs for some great views of Downtown, or taking a stroll around the Silver Lake Reservoir. Then head down Sunset to Echo Park Avenue where some of our favorite spots are located, including Lowboy Bar (10/10 smash burger), El Prado, Bar Flores, Bacetti Trattoria, and the Lonely Oyster Bar.

Koreatown Neighborhood Guide

Koreatown Neighborhood Guide

One of the most underrated neighborhoods of Los Angeles (in our opinion), Koreatown is a great area to explore, especially for adults at night! We've spent many evenings on stage at R Bar's karaoke night, usually after a delicious meal at Dan Sung Sa, BCD Tofu House, or one of the many Korean BBQ spots in the area.

Los Feliz Neighborhood Guide

Los Feliz Neighborhood Guide

If you plan to check out the Hollywood Sign or Griffith Park Observatory, we recommend spending some time in the nearby Los Feliz neighborhood as well. Another walkable, kid-friendly area, Los Feliz is chock-full of cafes, vintage shops, bookstores, and restaurants lining Hillhurst and Vermont Avenues. Grab some brunch at All Time before heading into the park, or a delicious homestyle Italian dinner at quaint Little Dom's. If you love a jazz cocktail bar, the historic Dresden Restaurant & Lounge is for you.

Mid-Wilshire Neighborhood Guide

Mid-Wilshire Neighborhood Guide

This is the neighborhood where our wedding venue The Ebell is located. Although a bit further from the hotel and other wedding weekend events, Mid-Wilshire is home to some of LA's most iconic arts institutions, like the Los Angeles County Museum of Art (LACMA) and the recently opened Academy Museum of Motion Pictures (the Getty Museum is further west in Brentwood). We recommend grabbing lunch at the historic Original Farmer's Market adjacent to The Grove, or sticking around the area for a fantastic French-inspired dinner at République.
