Wes and Erica met like most people do, at house party during their college years. Although Erica was in a relationship at the time, this started the beginning of a beautiful friendship, one that grew over four years and beyond. Through many parties, game nights, and random weekday hangouts, the two got to witness and be there for each other through failures, mistakes, various relationships, and puppy madness! (Thank goodness Wes got that puppy though, because Nyla was the best thing to happen to the both of them. In fact, they loved having Nyla so much they decided to get another puppy, Talia, few years later!) Then one night on NYE, Wes convinced Erica to come out with him and their friends to celebrate the new year. She really didn’t want to go, but when Wes threatened to drag her out of bed she got up and got ready at Tiffany’s! A couple bottles of champagne and a couple of shots later, Wes and Erica kissed right after midnight. The next morning was VERY awkward as these two best friends were very confused about their feelings for one another. As time went on though, the two decided to take a leap and see what their relationship might be like if they took it further. While there were tons of awkward moments transitioning from friends to a relationship, this was one of the best adventures the two have been on. Eventually Wes began to call Erica his girlfriend and introduced her as such to his family at his mom’s wedding (mind you he never officially asked her and still has not to this day). I love yous were soon shared (though the first time Wes bravely said “I love you”, Erica freaked out, gave him a hug, and ran to her car) and the rest is history. The two best friends stumbled into the best love and wouldn’t change it for anything. They have supported each other through so much through these seven years together- the grief of loosing several loved ones, surviving a pandemic in a tiny apartment, Wes getting laid off during that time, Erica starting and finishing a doctoral program and then matching to an internship in Atlanta and doing a year of flights and drives back and forth. After making it through all of this, Erica didn’t hesitate at all saying yes to marrying Wes when he asked on a vacation in Vegas. Erica and Wes are so excited to continue growing through life together and cannot wait for this next chapter!!
