We highly recommend taking a taxi from the airport to your hotel. Once you are in the city most locations are fully walkable and for those places that are a little farther out, such as the garden district, it is best to take an Uber.
We have done many of the tours that the city has to offer. Our favorite tour has been the food tour. It is a wonderful way to discover the unique food of New Orleans while also hearing a great deal about the city's history. Other great tours include: Cocktail Tour Ghost Tour Cemetary Tour The plantation tours and swamp tours are also worthwhile, but you will need to set aside a whole day for either of these tours.
While the renewal will be formal/cocktail attire you will want to dress comfortably and for warm weather for the duration of the trip. Ladies make sure you wear comfortable walking shoes (You will get a lot of steps in daily), and I highly recommend bringing a cross-body bag that closes with a zipper. Other items to pack are any breathable clothing, a rain jacket and an umbrella.
