Charlie and Erica met at Scoutbar in Clear Lake in 2016 at a Spazmatics show. Charlie was there with his coworker friends and Erica was there with her mom. Charlie saw Erica from across the bar and thought she was cute, so he started talking really loud behind her to get Erica’s attention. And it worked! Charlie and Erica hung out singing and dancing to 80s songs most of the night. When the concert was over, they exchanged phone numbers. They went on their first date the following weekend.

Charlie and Erica took a trip to Disney World in May of 2019. They had “Disney after dark” passes which meant they got to have fun at the park from 7PM to midnight. Charlie even got a reserved spot on the lawn to watch the special Magic Kingdom fireworks show. After the fireworks, Charlie kept saying he wanted to get a picture in front of the castle, but Erica wanted to get Mickey icecream and meet the princesses. So they walked around the park and met Ariel, rode some rides and got snacks. The whole time Erica had no idea why Charlie kept insisting they go back to the castle. Finally, they saw the photographer in front of the castle so they went to get the picture. Erica saw Charlie whisper something to the photographer before he got down on one knee. Erica had no idea this was coming, so the first thing she said was “Is this really happening?”. Of course she said yes!
