Prior to arrival to the Bermuda Airport (L.F. Wade International Airport), we would highly recommend either contacting your hotel or pre-booking a taxi. There are usually a few taxi's outside, but not a plane load's worth of tourists. Please feel free to inquire as to whether your hotel offers shuttles or pre-arranged transport; however, there is no rideshare (uber or lyft) equivalent and the available taxi stand is not always full. Although taxis are now beginning to take credit cards, do have cash on hand. Please see the below contact details for local taxi vendors: Bermuda Taxi Association - 1 441 291 2121 Island Taxi - 1 441 295 4141 Premier Co-Op Transportation - 1 441 824 7000
Walking and Mopeds: With narrow, wind roads and minimal sidewalks, we encourage you to use other modes of transport besides walking to get around the island. Mopeds can be fun. But best left to locals. Taxis: While you can call for taxis on an as needed basis, wait times can be 1-2 hours during peak season. Either planning for this or calling taxi dispatch 12-24 hours ahead and requesting a pick up/drop off will work smoothly. Although taxis are now beginning to take credit cards, do have cash on hand. Drivers may be inhospitable to those with wet bathing suits! Electric Car Rentals: Each of our suggested hotels offer the ability to rent 2-person electric cars and they are a fantastic way to get around and see our little 22 square mile island! They are safe, fun, fast, and emissions free! Just remember we drive on the left side of the road down here. -Rosewood Hotel: Please contact the concierge who can help you arrange for the transportation -Grotto Bay Resort: Bermudarentalcar.com has an onsite location with 2 types of E-cars which you can rent in advance - both offering air conditioning! -Hamilton Princess: Currentvehicles.com has an onsite location with 2 vehicles - the Twizy is a personal favorite of Alistair, Erica, and Pepper! Neither vehicle type has A/C - more of a "top down, wind in your hair" type experience. Public Transport: The bus and ferry are lovely, affordable ways to get around and see the island! Much like Alistair, they are sometimes prone to operating on island time.
