You can't come to Washington and not stroll the Mall and its endless sights. Our favorite remains the Lincoln Memorial. Also be sure to see MLK, the newest monument which also features wonderful views next to the Tidal Basin.
Adam's longtime neighborhood next to Capitol Hill, with parks and walkways along the Anacostia River, as well as great restaurants. Our favorites are Osteria Morini, Jackie, and Atlas Brewery. Also home to Nationals Park - you could even catch a ballgame Sunday afternoon!
DC's newest development, along the waterfront of the Washington Channel. Lots of restaurants and bars. Try Whiskey Charlie for a rooftop drink.
Stroll down M Street in Georgetown for some of the city's best restaurants and shopping. Visit Martin's Tavern just a block up Wisconsin Avenue for a beer, and see the booth where Jack Kennedy proposed to Jackie Bouvier as well as the bar where Adam once told Conan O'Brien he appreciates his work.
The beauty of nature and the glory of Americana live together along the river flowing through the nation's capital. An easy 30-minute drive north from the Willard will take you to the breathtaking views of Great Falls (and to the new Higgins home less than 2 miles away). Or drive 30 minutes south to George Washington's Mount Vernon. Within walking distance is Theodore Roosevelt Island, which we discovered as we sought outdoor activities in the early days of COVID.
You need not venture far from the Willard for a wonderful DC experience - the hotel itself is a showcase of American history. The White House complex is literally across the street. You can walk to the Capitol, or just enjoy the view down Pennsylvania Avenue. Ford's Theatre, which continues to host live performances, is four blocks away. Jaleo, Lincoln, Zaytinya, and The Hamilton are a few of the many excellent restaurant options within a few blocks.
