For your convenience, we have created a Pinterest board with sections for both Ladies and Gentlemen. Peruse this board for ideas for appropriate attire. Many wonderful patterns can be found to create your own Victorian clothing, for those who are so inclined. For those who are unable to sew, we have also gathered a few sites that sell and rent period attire. We totally understand! Traveling to another country can be expensive and sometimes you just can't take the time off of work or school. That's why we'll be hosting an informal get together when we return to the United States! We'll be sharing stories, pictures, and videos of our special day with our family and friends who couldn't make it. Formal invitations will be sent out but make sure you save March 16, 2019!
To put it simply, no. Steampunk is a subgenre of science fiction or science fantasy that incorporates technology and aesthetic designs inspired by 19th-century industrial steam-powered machinery. Steampunk sewing patterns and costumes borrow aspects of 19th-century fashion and meld them together with modern aesthetics, fantasy, and science fiction (with a dash of gears lol). Our wedding is a love note to and an attempt to recreate the fashions and romance of the actual Victorian Era, focusing on the 1840s through 1900.
We're working on having a livestream from the church for our friends and family back home who would like to witness our wedding but can't make it to Ireland. Stay tuned for more details on that!
