Question

What time should I arrive?

Answer

Please plan to arrive between 4pm and 4:15pm to ensure you are seated as the ceremony begins.

Question

What is the dress code?

Answer

To compliment our venue and the style we have chosen for our big day, our wedding will have a formal dress code. Guests should aim for elegant and sophisticated attire that complements an outdoor setting. Below are some guidelines: For Women: - Dresses: Opt for a midi or floor-length dress in with lots of color, floral patterns, and fun details. Flowy and breathable fabrics such as chiffon or silk work well for a garden setting. Please avoid wearing the colors white, cream, or ivory. We also ask that you avoid cotton, knit dresses. Bridesmaids will be in shades of pink and while you are more than welcome to wear pink, we understand that matching the wedding party is a cause of anxiety for some guests. - Footwear: Choose comfortable heels or stylish flats. We recommend avoiding a thin heel as the ceremony will take place on grass. For Men: - Suits: Please wear a suit or sport coat with a button down shirt. To combat the August heat, opt for light-colored or pastel shirts. Neckwear is optional. - Shoes: Loafers or lace-up shoes are both acceptable, depending on your personal style. Please no sneakers, sandals, or flip-flops.

Question

Will the wedding take place outdoors?

Answer

Our ceremony will take place in a shaded area outdoors. During cocktail hour, guests may mingle between an indoor space, and outdoor patio area. Dinner and dancing will take place indoors with the option to enjoy the beautiful, New England, August night on a covered patio. If the weather does not permit outdoor events, all events will be held inside.

Question

Is parking available at the venue?

Answer

Yes! There is plenty of on-site parking at The Thompson Inn. Please don’t drink and drive. If needed, you may leave your car at the venue and pick it up the next morning. Uber is available in the Durham area. If you do leave your car, please be sure to pick it up before noon on Sunday.

Question

Can I bring a plus one or additional guests?

Answer

We appreciate the excitement and anticipation surrounding our special day. As we prepare for this joyous occasion, we've made the decision to celebrate with an intimate gathering of our closest family and friends. This means we are unable to accommodate additional guests beyond those specifically named on the save the dates and invitations. We are grateful for your understanding in making our celebration as intimate as possible. We look forward to creating beautiful memories with you and our cherished guests on this memorable day.

Question

Are there any specific accommodations or hotel recommendations for out-of-town guests?

Answer

We have reserved a block of rooms at the Holiday Inn Express in Durham, NH as well as provided discounted accomidations in Downtown Portsmouth, NH. See our Travel page for more information.

Question

Are you providing transportation to and from the venue?

Answer

After much consideration we have decided that the demand for rooms at the Holiday Inn Express in Durham was too low to warrant the need for transportation to and from the venue. Uber and Lyft are both readily available in the area and can be scheduled up to 90 days in advance of the event. Additionally, cars may be left overnight at the venue. If you are scheduling your Uber or Lyft ride, the ride to and from the venue is five to seven minutes from the Holiday Inn Express. Please arrive at the Thompson Inn no later than 4:15 PM to ensure you are seated when the ceremony begins. The reception will end at 10 PM. Please feel free to reach out if you have questions or concerns about this.

Question

When should I RSVP by?

Answer

To ensure that we can make the necessary arrangements, we kindly require your response regarding your attendance by June 20. This can be done by visiting the RSVP page of our website. If we don't hear back from you by June 20, 2024, we'll regrettably mark you as 'will not attend,' and unfortunately, we won't be able to include you in the guest list.

Question

Can I bring my children to the wedding?

Answer

While we adore and value the presence of your children, we've made the decision to host an adult-only celebration to ensure an atmosphere of elegance and relaxation for all our guests. We hope you understand that this decision was made with careful consideration to create an environment where everyone can fully enjoy the festivities. We encourage you to arrange for childcare during the event, allowing you to immerse yourself in the celebration.
