January 2017: We matched on Tinder and started talking. We both were juniors at Loyola University, but had never met or seen each other before. February - April 2017: We randomly kept seeing each other in the campus library, but were both too afraid to talk to each other in person. This culminated when we ran into each other in the same doorway! We both stopped and said "holy crap, it's you!" We talked for a few minutes, then Greg immediately texted Sara saying "WOW you're so short in-person!" We then started texting more and more. May 2017: Our first date. In typical college fashion, we went for an impromptu long walk followed by grilled cheese. We were instantly obsessed with each other. June 2017: We officially started dating. August 2018 - August 2020: The long distance phase. We dated long distance between Chicago and East Lansing, MI while Greg was getting his masters at Michigan State University. We easily kept a schedule of alternating visits every three weeks. August 2020 - August 2022: Greg moved back to Chicago & we moved into our first apartment together in Logan Square. June 2022: The proposal! Greg surprised Sara with a weekend trip to Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore in Northern Michigan. On the last night of the trip, Greg popped the question. September 2022: The move to California! Greg starts his PhD in Agricultural Economics at UC Davis and Sara is working remotely for Girls on the Run Chicago.
