Getting to Oaxaca

There are no direct flights from Chicago to Oaxaca. Popular layovers are Mexico City or Dallas. The Mexico City airport is huge and can be a little confusing to navigate but people are friendly and will help direct you to your gate if you need help during your layover. The Oaxaca airport is small and cute, only about seven gates.

Transportation

Cabs / Ride Share: Oaxaca does NOT use Uber. They use a similar app called Didi which will help hail a cab. However, cabs are easy to find in the city. Airport Transportation: On your own. You can arrange private transportation with your hotel or airbnb. This should cost you about $35-$50USD to el centro. Taxis from the airport to el centro: White/blue van: available at the gate, ~$550 MX for 8 ppl Red/gray car: you have to walk to the street exit. No more than 4 ppl per cab (fyi tight squeeze with 3 in the back seat and not much room for luggage so you may end up getting 2 taxis for 4 ppl). ~$410 MX for 4 ppl Friday - Church and welcome reception Transportation: on your own/taxis will be available Saturday - Dinner Reception Transportation: 5:30pm - Pick up from el centro at Grana B&B to Casa Don Luis 12:00am - Pick up from Casa Don Luis and drop off in el centro at Grana B&B (request specific drop off locations w/the driver) 3:00am - Pick up from Casa Don Luis and drop off in el centro at Grana B&B (request specific drop off locations w/the driver) Sunday - Tornaboda Transportation: 2:30pm - Pick up from el centro at Grana B&B and drop off at Quinta Real San Pedro (Zimatlan) 6:00pm - Pick up from Quinta Real San Pedro and drop off at Grana B&B 8:00pm - Pick up from Quinta Real San Pedro and drop off at Grana B&B 10:00pm - Pick up from Quinta Real San Pedro and drop off at Grana B&B (request specific drop off locations w/the driver)

Hotels in Oaxaca are generally small and we do not have blocks reserved. We encourage you to explore options you find the most exciting. Covid Testing Info

****As of June 12, 2022, a Covid test is NOT required for entry to the US. **** Should you wish to get a test, below are locations that offer test results within 24 hours. Oaxaca Lab, +52 951 427 5550 Av. Fuerza Aerea Mexicana 311, Reforma, 68050 Oaxaca de Juárez, Oax., Mexico *They may require you to be in your car when performing the test. A cab driver will probably allow this to happen so the test can be administered in the cab. San Francisco Laboratorios Amapolas location +52 951 571 9418 *Call or stop by the location closest to you to make sure they provide rapid tests. Not all San Francisco Labs provide rapid tests.
