When Keith and Emy matched on the dating app Bumble. The first date was Sunday, June 29th. In true form, Emy hopped in 10 minutes late, straight from a bachelorette. Keith was early, of course, and was half a beer down when she arrived. A huge plate of nachos, beers, and lots of nervous chatter later, they parted ways with a hug. For the second date they decided to hike a trail called White Oak Canyon, about 1.5 hours away. Emy showed up at 8:30am and Keith drove them out to the middle of VA as she peppered him with questions and stories. During the hike, Keith was sweating out the previous nights’ beer while Emy kept the pace in front, trying (unsuccessfully) not to trip and fall. They survived the 8 miles of cliff jumps, rockslides and even a black bear encounter. Next, they stopped at Mountain Run Winery to quench their thirst, which turned into Emy trying all the wine, giving Keith his first glimpse of her love of drinking and eating. They were also starving so next stop was 2 Silos for dinner. And since they still weren’t ready to call it a night, they picked up Keith’s dog Luke and got ice cream. From there, they spent as much time together as possible. A few months later, they embarked on a snowboarding trip to Europe, where they exchanged ‘I love you’s' in the Switzerland airport. Keith deployed to Afghanistan shortly after and Emy insisted on keeping Luke while he was gone. Emy’s pup Rosie even let Luke in, which shocked everyone. When Keith returned a year later, they immediately moved in together. Keith recreated the long second date for a surprise proposal on October 4, 2020. Emy was excited to get back to White Oak, but what she didn’t know was that about a mile in, Keith would propose in a picturesque clearing surrounded by trees and water. They were obviously too excited to finish hiking, so they headed to the familiar Mountain Run Winery to celebrate. It was an easy venue choice and they can’t wait for everyone to experience it with them in May!
